Hi. I work for Liberty Medical Supply, in Florida, and recogize this as a scam. Liberty does not have an office in Palo Alto, Ca area to my knowledge , so would not have posted an ad on Craigslist in that state. They did, however, post ads in Florida and probably in other states as well, that they are located in. The position information you copied sounds like an account services position. Liberty certainly would not have offered you a management position in this capacity. The ad was obviously copied from a genuine Liberty ad by a scam company, which would then be what you replied to, thus the response from Merck. I CAN tell you Liberty Medical Supply has NO AFFILIATION with Merck Mutual Funds that replied! I get emails every other day from companies in Nigeria and elsewhere regarding this cash laundering scam companies. They all ask for my personal info so they can "get me started right away", or until they open locally. I have researched this online, and the way they work is they request you to deposit a check into your personal bank account. You then get the keep 10, 20, or 30% as pay and are required to forward the difference to them. The check later bounces in your account, and you are stuck out of the money you sent this bogus company. You can look this up at Scambusters.com. Search for "Nigerian". I would be concerned if you sent this company a resume filled with your personal info. You have just armed someone for possible fraud. You may want to find out about filing a police report. Then you have recourse if any fraud is commited. I would NEVER submit a resume or ANY personal info based on online requests. Liberty and any legitimate company usually will list a phone # or fax # for contact. I would verify the job opening first. I WILL pass this info on to the Liberty Medical brass tomorrow! They should be made aware of this. You can go to their real websight at LibertyMedical.com. The bottom of the page has a link under "Contact Us" that list lots of phone #'s. It also has a link for "careers". You can go thru there to apply for a position. ~~GOOD LUCK~~
