The "founder" of this website is a personal friend of my fiance and has written him two times now telling him my status on her "personals" site. This information is supposed to be private and she is abusing her powers to give him information that is not allowed to be given.

The information that I "disclosed" to the fiance in question (who happened to be my ex-boyfriend coincidentally) is that I happened to see a photo that looked suspiciously like him on MetaSingles. Since I hadn't seen him since 1997 (we had only spoken via phone and email), I was not sure if the photo was of him or not. Since the profile was of a woman, I asked him if perhaps his girlfriend had posted a profile using his photo (the photo was of a woman kissing the fiance in question). The woman I don't know, have never met, and have no personal identifiable information on. She did however send me several personal emails pretending to be my ex-boyfriend. I could never tell if it was her or him since she would use his email address. I had to eventually break off my friendship with him (which had been in place since approx 1990) because of her behavior. MetaSingles does not collect personal identifiable information from members posting a profile. All billing information is kept with PayPal in their database. If a member chooses to sign up for our affiliate program then we must collect their tax ID and address only per IRS rules and regulations in order to make affiliate payouts. We don't cross reference a member's profile with their unique affiliate ID or information. All information is kept by secure database. I would suggest 2 things to anyone wanting to cheat on their significant other via a personal dating site: 1) don't use a photo that includes your significant other 2) Don't post it on MetaSingles.com

wrong and illegal if the "founder" gave out your personal information

Karen, I agree that it is wrong (and illegal if no consent was given) that the "founder" gave out your personal information, even if it was to your fiance. BUT, if indeed you are engaged to be married, why do you maintain a profile on a singles website? Are you not secure in your choice for a husband? From the tone of your complaint, it is obvious that your profile still says you are single, not engaged. Otherwise, you would not be so upset about this. Do you feel the need to keep secrets from your fiance? If so, I'm afraid your marriage is doomed before it even gets started.
