Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We have lived in our home for almost 7 years now, and during all this time we have had a huge flooding problem. The prior owner had the basement waterproofed by Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing with a lifetime warranty transferrable to us. Within a few months our basement began to take on water; since then, it has been an ongoing battle: they either ignore us, or do not fix the basement right.

We have been forced to gut our finished basement twice. We have thrown away numerous personal belongings. Earlier this year, after getting the runaround & no results for 7 years, we decided to call as if we were a new customer. We had two different salesmen visit: The day after the second salesman's visit, he called my husband's cell phone and said that the system was done by Mid-Atlantic, was still under warranty, and that they were going to fix it.

For the next few months, we had visits from different employees, and we were getting periodic phone calls, but no work was ever done. The last contact was May 16, 2006. An employee came and jack-hammered 3 holes into my floor. A foreman was supposed to come look at the holes; 3 weeks later, we are still waiting ( the second time this has happened). Messages left have gone unanswered. Today we had a huge flood. We have no hot water, because the pilot light is flooded out. We had to turn off the central air, because it was giving off sparks. Also, our phones are not working properly, because the wiring is wet. This situation has cost us in the tens of thousands of dollars, not to mention our time. We need this basement fixed correctly. I think we have waited long enough.

I just googled Mid Atlantic Waterproofing to find out about different locations to refer a friend in another state and came across this website and complaint. And I am shocked to say the least. I certainly do not want to call this person a liar, and I will not as there are ALWAYS people who will be complainers and who will be unsatisfied. Thats life. HOWEVER I will state my personal experience with this organization.

I too had a newly finished basement when the flood occured, one that we saved for many years to accomplish.  We were DEVASTATED when we started to see traces of water. Well long story short, traces turned into a full blown flood, water was literally coming through our walls. It was NOT a plumbing issue.  Unfortunately we found that out after being hustled by 2 local plumbers.  We finally called several water proofing companies in total desperation.  Mid Atlantic came out and were so understanding and I truly felt their compassion for what we were going through.  So we gave it a whirl.  Best move we ever made.  They had to schedule us out a few days (which initially was scary) BUT well worth the wait, they came in, took 2 FULL days and low and behold we were DRY!

It has been exactly 3 years and no issues whatsoever.  I get a letter each year following up and when we had electrical problems (well before we knew it was electrical) I called to tell them on a Thursday that the pumps were not working, (we saw no water but didn't hear them on) they sent out a technician that Saturday, they replaced the pump, realized it wasn't their equipment AND STILL let us keep the new one AND the tech offered to take a look at our fuses, told us how to fix and saved us the money on having to call a electrician.  SO in saying this, you can see how I find this other persons experience hard to believe.  Thank you mid-atlantic.

Outside repairs do not relieve hydrostatic pressure

#7Consumer Suggestion

Michigan dude, get off your soapbox. Inside systems work just fine. Like anything, they won't work if they are not properly installed. There are a lot of fine companies on the East Coast waterproofing basements from the inside. Wake up! Nobody uses cove base systems anymore. How are you going to prevent water from getting under a footer and building up under the floor? You can't...Einstein. The water issues are a lot different on the East Coast than they are in Michigan. The soil is much different, and the construction process and materials are not identical to Michigan. If I can keep water out of my basement by not tearing up my patio...deck...driveway...yard....flower bed...garden..etc, I will choose the inside sub-floor pressure relief system everytime. You are on here putting your 2 cents in on companies that are out there ripping people off. For every one complaint on here, there are THOUSANDS of satisfied customers that are extremely happy. Aqua Technologies is owned by an a hole. He is a huge rip off artist....always has been....always will be...Mid-Atlantic has horrible service.

"Atlantis and NationDry were not the only waterproofing firms with complaints reported to the state Consumer Affairs office. Mid Atlantic Waterproofing of South Plainfield received 17 complaints from 2004 through June 2006.Those included poor and faulty workmanship, unsatisfactory repair and maintenance, and warranty issues" www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061203/NEWS/612030416 Inside drain tile and Baseboard perimeter systems do NOT stop/prevent water from entering cracks and other openings on the Outside, either through the basement wall or above ground openings which include openings around basement windows, open mortar joints, siding, around doors etc. These are MOST homeowners problems! So...most do NOT need any drain tile or baseboard system, hello? more facts/answers to homeowners leaky basements at (((ROR REDACTED LINK FOR SECURITY PURPOSES))) ..links from 'others' within the posts, some are on mold, how radon enters, efflorescence, why basement walls bow in,why basements leak, upon flooding-what to do etc. sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome!
