I am a retired 100% Disabled Veteran living in Jacksonville, FL. In Feb. 2015 I had my two front teeth crowned at Middleburg Family Dental Care by Dr. Merkey. Within Three days the front left tooth crown broke my real tooth all the way down into my gum. I returned to Middleburg Family Dental Care and their Dentist Dr. Merkey referred me to Island Walk Dental to have oral surgery because the tooth broke so deep into my gum it had to be removed so that I can have an implant. Once, I healed from the implant surgery, I went back to Middleburg Family Dental Care for my second permanent crown on the same front left tooth on April 27, 2016. In May 2016, I received a letter from Middleburg Family Dental Care stating that as of 30days from the date of the letter I will no longer be seen at Middleburg Family Dental Care except for emergencies during the 30day phase. On July 9, 2016 my second permanent crown popped off painfully and would not go back on. On, April 27, 2016 I arrived at Middleburg Family Dental Care at 1100 for my second permanent crown. I was taken to one of the dentist chair and waited 20 minutes, then I walked to the front desk to complain about the wait time. Dr. Miller's (the dentist that put in my second permanent crown) assistant Kristin came in and we had a disagreement about the wait time because she said that Dr. Miller was running behind in seeing patients. Then Dr Miller came in with a different assistant. He took the crown shoved it in, showed me a mirror and asked if it was ok. I told him the color matches. Dr. Miller put glue on the tooth and screwed on like he was rushing. Then, Dr. Miller left  out of the room , leaving me in there with a dental assistant. The dental assistant put the light on my tooth, Dr. Miller came back asked her if it was good, the dental assistant said yes and they let me go. Dr. Miller spent less than ten minutes putting this permanent crown in.

On July 9, 2016 I called Middleburg Family Dental Care answering service about my crown popping out and was told that Dr. Miller would be paged. I never received any call or text from Dr. Miller. On July 11, 2016, I called Middleburg Family Dental Care and spoke to the office Manager Brittany. Brittany told me that Dr. Miller sent me a letter and is not under any legal obligation to fix the broken permanent crown that he put in. They refuse to give me a refund for the permanent crown that continues to break and that Middleburg Family Dental Care put in twice; both times the permanent crown was put on the the same tooth it broke off. I have pain in my gum, other teeth, my nose bone, I can't eat without pain and it's giving me migraines.

On July 11, 2016, I contacted my new dentist Dr. C****'s office and was informed by the front desk agent, that Middleburg Family Dental Care charged my insurance company for the second permanent crown and that my insurance company only allows one redo for permanent crowns. Dr. Merkey told me that Middleburg Family Dental Care would incur all expenses for the second permanent crown replacement. I did not authorize Middleburg Family Care to charge my insurance for any part of the second permanent crown replacement. The front desk staff is horrific, she was rude and lacked poor customer service .

You should call /use phone book   and find out what  the professional dental society/local dental board  address is, and write to them with copies of the insurance billing showing dates of all service.

There is a dental board in most every size town and registered board memebers belong. they all know each other, so keeping their reputation is also important to them.

Find out who is the board president, and address the letter politley to them.

Having the office say they have no "obligation" for instant breakage and their failure to even want to deal with you is a problem.

I don't know  THEIR side, there may be reasons they can't control about your teeth...meds you are on, prior dental care or other issues that weakens your dental health, and it could  be just poor care in the past has impacted your teeth overall.

But no matter they should have handled it better no matter if you are a vet or  a private citizen,  abled, disabled...period.  UNless your disability  is what caused your dental problems then it doesn't come into the argument.

Good luck.
