Sounds like this Debt has been settled. PLUS the SOL (Statute of Limitations) has run it's course so tell them IN WRITING...that if they do not CEASE AND DESIST you WILL file a lawsuit against them for trying to collect on a "Junk Debt" and/or a fraudulently revived debt.

I am so sorry that you have had problems with Fingerhut. A Validation Debt Lettershould be sent to Midland Credit Management regarding the purchase of thealleged debt. You can find Validation debt Letter samples on line. You must send the Validation Debt letter by registered/certified mail with Return Receipt Request.
After Midland Credit Management receives your Validation Debt Letter they haveonly thirty days (30) to provide you with all of the information sought in theValidation Debt letter. In many cases a Statute of Limitations on the debt has tolled and essentially Midland is trying to fool and intimidate people by making them believe that they owe a sum of money. Many times they are in violation of Fair Collection Practices, violation of Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Defamation of Character.
If Midland does not provide you with any information within thirty days they must cease and desist from trying to collect, clear all invalidated alleged debts from your credit report and finally send you a copy of the letter that they sent to all three major credit reporting agencies.
Good luck. Sometimes Midland will try over and over to ignore your Validation Debt Letters, and you can seek legal counsel and bring a lawsuit against them. their registered agents, and any third parties who have their hand in this alleged fraud.

kasie one thing you have on your side is to request midland to validate this debt. you should never give any company money just because they ask for it. you are entitled to proof that yes indeed this is a valid debt so send them a letter asking What the money you say I owe is for; Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe; Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe; Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable; Identify the original creditor; Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent if they cannot provide this information they are not entitled to collect a dime, nor can they damage your credit good luck tracy newhampshire usa
