Dear Tammy, Maybe if you had an IQ higher than that of a rock, you might understand how a job in the real world really works. I have known the owners of this company for over 6 years and have worked for them for 2. Funny you say you never got paid for any of your runs because they have paid, to an extent over-paid me for work completed. However, on the other hand you can't expect to be paid for a job you don't complete. Dumping a truck in another companies parking lot is not properly completing your job. Quite frankly, I'm sick to my stomach reading all the non-sense you have posted on here. Have you nothing better to do than sit here and complain about things that aren't even true? Last time I checked, I have never known a business that pays employees for getting on sites like these and talking to people you don't even know. If you know of one, be sure to let me know, I would LOVE to work for them!! Tammy and everyone else that is owed money: Kenny is employed at Todd's team auto in Olate KS, however apparently he answers the phone so he will lie about it. His son, Danel also works there. Try contacting the owner directly, Todd Kirtchovang. He is friends with Kenny so there is the possibility he will cover for him. But, it is true, he is still working there. Try to get a garnishment against his paycheck. Or just show up there and catch him working the shop. Also, his court date for felony checks is Wed, Oct 31st in Division 32 with Judge Robert Trout. He is a repeat offender of hot checks. I would recommend showing up in court and requesting to speak to the judge to let him know you are also owed money from hot checks. Let him know Kenny has a 10+ year history of passing felony checks. He needs to be held responsible for the way he treats people. These might be checks that he owes for payroll? I am still trying to collect for money he owes me that is being garnished from my paycheck bi-weekly for a surgery he had in 1995 and is court ordered to pay me. I don't understand how someone can have a clear conscious knowing that someone else is paying their debt and that someone else is the mother of his child that should have that money to raise that child and not pay his bills! Tammy, It appears he is no longer at that place of employement. Appears he has long moved on. I checked with the person that had told me he was working there and apparently that was nearly 6 months ago, so the information was old (sorry, I did not know that). Likely the person answering the phone did not know him when he worked there if it was long ago? If I hear where he went to I will gladly post it. Likely moved on to another trucking company. I would also suggest trying to collect from Tri-City, as they where responsible for the debt once they changed their name from MFL to Tri-City. Kenny left when they split to Tri-City so truely Tri-City owes you and you likely need to try to collect from them. Good luck

X-Wife....I called 411 information and got this phone number for Todds Team Auto: (913) 782-1615 When I called them asking if Kenny works there, the guy said "no"....and when I asked if Kenny Wilson EVER worked there, the guy told me "no" to that question too; then I asked if I was calling "Todds Team Auto" and he said "yes"....so the person who answered the phone is either lying to protect Kenny, or he's telling the truth. Whoever you guys are, thank you for the updates. ...did you work for these trailer trash people, Lady Luck? Even if you did, I'm sure you wouldn't say, would you? I bet Jesse molested his own children! Are his kids even still living with him, or did child protective services take them away? Jesse is out on 20K bail, 10% of the 200K bond. Looking at 10 to life for taking a 14 year old girl across state lines for the purpose of prostituting her. Jesse used to be the girls softball coach. KMBC-TV 9 website has a story dated June 22, 2007 on Jesse Herd one of the owners of this company has been indicted on 12 counts. He is accused of taking a minor across state lines for sex crimes. I didn't realize that you should research the owners of the company you plan to work for, but some of the best lessons learned are the one learned the hard way. Anyone working for this company or considering working for this company should be cautious and protect your self. They have bad karma and will eventually receive what they deserve.

worked for Twin Cities Trucking which is also Midwest Frieght Lines for 6 weeks. When I started I thought Kindra and Jesse Herd were nice people, (I have never been more wrong in my life). Thier trucks are dangerous (they wanted me to drive from Topeka KS to Michagan with a trailer that has cracked drums pieces missing out of drums, breaks that were no good, one completly not working. The truck leaking oil( had to put 2 gallons of oil in every day). Leaking air, wheel seal out, no ac, clutch needed to be replaced, and 8 bald tires. When I first started with Twin Cities I was teaming with my dad we ran 4000 miles and my paycheck was only $370.00 (that was the highest check I recevied) I went solo thinking I could make more money by myself I was so wrong. I went from Savanna Ga to Yacima Wa a trip that was over 2800 miles. On this trip My truck broke down with a major engine problem. Kindra and Jesse put me up in a hotel with my dog for a couple of days. They then flew me home. I told Jesse since I have my dog just send ethier my dad or my friend to come and get me. Jesse said he wanted to fly me home. I was not able to bring my dog with me on the plan because he does not like new people. I had to leave him in Wa with the manager at the hotel. I came home and they wanted me to go to Michagin not Washington to get my dog. I found out on the Michigan trip that my dog (my best friend) died. I would still have him if they just sent someone to come get me. I received my paycheck for the Washington trip and it was $67.32. They said the trip was only 1400 miles not over 2800 miles. The paycheck for the Michagain trip was $32.37. The gross was $274.14 they put my federal taxes at 33.5% which was $91.00 all toghter the taxes came to $171.00 for a $274.14 gross check, how can that be? The check he gave me was not singed so I had to run to the truck stop on the Turnpike to meet him and have it signed. He then told me he did the wire transfere late so the check might not be able to be cashed. I went to his bank and they told me they could not cash the check becasue there was not enough money in the account. I had to go to the dillons on Shawnee Mission Parkway to get cash for the check. I spent $20.00 in gas driving around to meet them for my pay. I talked to Jesse and told him my check is wrong he said he would look at it. The next day Kindra called me to tell me to call Jesse. I called Jesse and he said the check was right. How can that be $171.00 in taxes for $274.14 gross? I quit that day and got another job. No more being screwed over in pay.

Well, I just talked got off the phone with someone who took MFL to court in Liberty, MO. He told me MFL told him they were going bankrupt. He also said MFL took a truck to a mechanic who did $23,000 worth of repair work on the truck(s), and then MFL refused to pay the bill. So MFL screwed the mechanic too! All I can say is...work for a LOCAL company. Not for one that is out of state. As an employee I know that State laws can't do much to help you with problems that occur with INTERSTATE companies. But if you work for a company within your own state, then the state has ways to enforce it's own state laws. The same would also apply to independent contractors.

No Diane...sorry....I don't have their new business address and I don't know where they moved to exactly. I was told somewhere near Lawrence, Kansas. You are not the only one who has had criminal charges pressed against them for rubber checks. Someone who works in the building where MFL was located before they moved out...this person told me a MFL driver got put in jail for a rubber check that MFL passed to him. And Kenny, Jesse, or someone else (Kendra?) falsely accused him of stealing the check! So that's why he was put in jail. Can you believe that?!?! Well, you probably can. I have an address I gave the court so they could send a certified letter to Kenny Wilson. But he never picked up the letter so my case was dropped, and I didn't get the rest of my money. This is all I have, until someone else posts a different address...I think this is his home address - I never went by there to check it out - maybe I should? I got most of my money they owned me, but I still want the rest, and I'm still up for suing them to get it. I'm tired of getting screwed. Since I have lived in Kansas City, this is the THIRD time it happened. Companies are like a box of chocolates - you neverknow whatyou're gonnaget! The way I got my money on the bounced checks was I turned MFL into the Prosecuting Attorney. I did it just in the nick of time. If there there had been any delays on my part, or on the PA's part, I would not have gotten my money...it was about three weeks after I got my money that MFL closed down. In order for you to get your money now, you need to know where they are so they can be served. If you have the address, call the Prosecuting Attorney to get the paperwork. It's only one page, and it's really simple to fill out. That's about all you need to do. And it's the easiest way. If you know the new company name and address where MFL moved to, please post it here - not just for me, but so others searching for information on them can find it before they get screwed too. I hope this helps you and other MFL victims get your money from these low-life scum-bags.

Tammy, You specicifically stated you had a problem with the brakes that you reported and they refused to fix! Do you not remember stating this? If you state there is something wrong with the brakes and they need to be fixed, that is the same as you saying they are unsafe! AND, by law, you were required to immediately take that truck out of service. This was not optional. You CHOSE to operate an unsafe/illegal vehicle. You broke the law. There has NEVER been a single trip I have done where there was not an incident with the truck. Other problems: I repeatedly asked for an extra key for the truck. I repeatedly asked them to buy some curtains for the bunk so I could have privacy to change my clothes, and privacy and to block out the light while I slept. I have REPEATEDLY asked for my paychecks also, and they will not give them to me. The people in the office will not hardly ever answer the phone when I call them. They are very unreliably unavailable. When they fail to answer the phone, I found that if I block my phone number so they don't know who is calling, usually someone will answer. I told them two weeks ago that something is wrong with the brakes on the truck, and they never fixed the problem. I even gave them comments written on a work order by a mechanic that told them the brakes needed to be fixed - the potential problem of not fixing it was that the brakes could lock up. >>>>> YOU, as the DRIVER of a commercial vehicle are 100% in charge over whether or not you drive something that is unsafe. Tammy, Do you actually believe what you are saying? just because you close a business down or move or change names, DOES NOT get you off the hook with the people you owe money to! There is no law that allows this except for BANKRUPTCY! Did they file BK? The "whatever" response shows how you deal with things. That is the root of your problems. If you follow through, as suggested, you WILL most likely get paid. I have been through this as well. It takes time and patience, but can be done. If you have documentation, you WILL win a small claims suit and/or a labor charge. If you learn the laws that affect you and stand up firmly in your own defense, these things would never happen. For example, in your original post. 1. The A/C was not working and they refused to let you fix it. WRONG ANSWER! You had the LEGAL right to take that vehicle out of service until it was fixed. The DOT should have been called immediately and a report filed. The LAW requires that a driver of a commercial vehicle have an "adequate supply of heat and air conditioning". 2. You claimed the brakes were unsafe and they refused to let you fix them . Once again, WRONG ANSWER! It is the LEGAL responsibility of the commercial driver to take an unsafe vehicle out of service. YOUR legal responsibility. YOU chose to drive the unsafe vehicle. As far as the other things you wanted like the curtain. That is your responsibility. hang a blanket! The extra key, HAVE one made! Again, you CHOSE to accept these circumstances. Otherwise you would have quit the first time they jerked you around. With me, as soon as someone does not pay me in full and on time as agreed, that truck gets parked and I get out. Again, your choice.

All I can say is "whatever!".... they CAN do it... it happened to me with another company.... the law allows businesses to up and leave all the people they owe money to. They are legally allowed to shut down, move somewhere else, dissolve the company, start up another company, and not be obligated to pay ANYone. I've been through this with two different companies already, so I think I would know. The law is designed to protect the criminal, not the victim. And as far as the guy going to jail for being accused of stealing company checks, I never talked to him personally, however....one of the businesses in the same building with MFL told me a MFL driver had just come into their office the other day after getting out of jail for the "check stealing", and I know this person wouldn't make something up like that. That's a pretty crazy story to just dream up about someone that you hardly even know. And considering how these owners of MFL's treated me, I believe they would do something that mean and that crazy!!!!

It is the operating authority. Operating authority is tied to real people, and your past follows you. Even if they applied for and got new operating authority, their old authority is forever tied to the new one if any of the same owners are involved. You can get all of this information from the FMCSA website. You can also track them by their insurance company and by registered agent. What was the type of business entity? Was it a corp? LLC? Sole Prop.? etc. As far as the other driver getting jailed for the alleged stolen check, I find that VERY hard to believe. Suspected or accused, OK. But jailed? No. Too easy to beat.

I had to get an attorney to do a mediation with me and Kenny Wilson. Kenny showed up to the meeting about 45 minutes late. He would not pay me everything he owed me, because I drove the truck home from Houston, Texas with no load on the truck. But I did that because I was seeing some really bad red flags about the company, and out of self-preservation, I took the unloaded truck and drove it back to Kansas City from Houston for the reasons explained in my previous reports on them. But anyway, during mediation, Kenny Wilson told me in my attorney's office to meet him at his office at a certain day and time to pick up my paycheck. So I went there when he told me to, and he was not there! So I had to call my attorney. Then another time was rescheduled to pick up my paycheck for the third or fourth time already. I live something like 50 miles round trip from the company so they cost me alotta money in gas while I tried getting my paycheck from them. They kept stringing me along forever - like four months! So I met Kenny Wilson on another day and finally got my paycheck, and as I left their office, Kendra Herd laughed at me with this real creepy evil laugh. She knew the check was not good. I deposited the check and it didn't clear. So I turned them into the prosecuting attorney's office and not more than a month went by, and I got my $2400 something dollars from them. They made me so mad because of all they put me through, that I decided I was going to sue them for the rest of the money they owed me (another $1000). But when I went to court on Friday, December 22, the judge told me that the certified letter they mailed MFL was returned because they moved and left no forwarding address. I found out a couple months later that about a week and a half after I got my check from the prosecuting attorney that MFL was kicked out of their office for not paying rent for three months. I also learned that they gave another driver a bad check, and accused him of stealing the check, and he got put in jail! That could have been me!!! OMG! Now he did nothing wrong - MFL is the one who is ripping people off, but then they turn around and wrongfully accuse someone of stealing checks and get someone put in jail....that's really screwed up. Who's doing the stealing???? I also found out that Midwest Freight Lines left their office and many drivers didn't know where they went to. They left everybody high and dry, owing everybody money, and moved near Lawrence, Kansas and started up another business under the name of Tri Cities. I know alot of people did not get their money from MFL. I came so close to not getting mine. Just another 1.5 weeks, and I would have not gotten my money - that's how close it was! If I had waited any longer to file my papers with the prosecuting attorney, then they would have sent a demand letter to pay me, but the letter would have been returned because MFL left no forwarding address, and I know they did that on purpose. They know they screwed alot of people, so they just close down, move, leave no forwarding address, then start up a new business under a new name, then I'm sure they will do the same thing all over again. They've been doing this for a while already, as I noticed that they had different addresses on all the registration and other papers for the truck. These people are low life scum-bag white trash, and if anybody was working for them and is reading this report - it MFL lines owes you money because they bounced your paycheck or put a stop payment on it, turn them into the Clay County prosecuting attorney's office and they will help you get your money. Tammy and others, just owning your equipment DOES NOT make you an owner operator. You must have your own operating authority to truly be an owner operator. When you lease your equipment onto someone elses authority, legally, they have total control over YOUR equipment. You are at their mercy, legally. This is what so many people do not understand. Want to avoid these problems, get your own authority. Then you can truly call yourself an owner operator!

I just want to make a brief comment here that I spoke with someone tonight who had four trucks leased on with Midwest Freight Lines. He told me that MFL BOUNCED an $8,000 check to him, and he knows of other owner-operators who have also been victims of bounced checks through this dishonest stinkin' rotten company. If anybody has been a victim of bounced checks from Midwest Freight Lines, please post here. It may be possible to file a class action lawsuit against this company and put them out of business. I personally turned these jerks into the Clay County Prosecuting Attorney's office, and they took over from there, sent MFL a letter stating that they had to pay me, or face possible jail time, and I got me my $2414. That was the amount that we agreed to settle for in my attorney's office PLUS $20 bounced check fee that the Prosecuting Attorney awarded me....now I'm taking MFL to court to get the rest of my money - about $1000, just because they were jerks, screwed with me and my life for four months, didn't want to give me my money, then they bounced my check...so I'm not finished with them yet....I'm going for the rest of my money. I'm coming after you Midwest Freight Lines for the rest of my money because you broke your promises, after having a meeting with my attorney to pay me, then you gave me a bounced check. If enough complaints are filed, eventually it will get someone's attention, and they will be put out of business. But if you sit there and do nothing, you will get nothing. It only takes five minutes to call the Prosecuting Attorney in Clay County, and five minutes to fill out the simple form, put it in an envelope and put it in the mail, and you're done...the PA will do the rest. I personally am going to help the owner-operator who was ripped off for $8,000 by MFL because they pissed me off, and they are taking advantage of other people, and kicking them when they're down. I have to agree with Steve, I think it was your attitude that has caused so much grief. He is only trying to give you information that can help. I have a suggestion of my own and maybe it can help get your money owed to you. Take the returned check to the court house and file a warrant. Issueing a bad check is against the law. I'm not sure what the process would be but you could talk to someone at the court house.

Tammy, Did you know that per DOT regulations regarding OTR drivers that you as a driver can legally put your truck out of service if you do not have an "adequate amount of heat or air conditioning"? Thats right. Heat and air conditioning are NOT optional for an OTR driver. It is required to work, by FEDERAL LAW. Why did you ACCEPT a truck that had no working air conditioning? Again, YOUR CHOICE to accept and drive a broken truck. And, one more question. Did they tell you that you were an "independent contractor"? Did you get a 1099 or a W-2? Did they withhold Fed Taxes, SS, etc? I have seen these operations before, and that is how they are done most of the time. Illegal. Let me see if I have this straight. The "trucking company" owns NO TRUCKS, but they do own trailers that you described as junk and totally unsafe. The "truck owners" have no drivers. They just buy the truck, and lease it on to the "trucking company" who owns no trucks. Now, the million dollar question! Who EXACTLY is your EMPLOYER? The "trucking company"? The "truck owner"? Yourself? Now, to help you answer this question LEGALLY. Go to the IRS website and download a form and fill it out and mail it. It is an SS-8 form titled "DETERMINATION OF WORKER STATUS". If you properly fill it out and mai it, I can tell you how it will come out. You were an EMPLOYEE, and you were employed by the person who had control over your time. This would be the trucking company who owned no trucks. And, as an employee, it is the trucking company who is LEGALLY required to pay you, NOT the truck owner. For the truck owner to be legally required to pay you, you would have to have a lease driver agreement in place with the trucking company. I am really interested in having you answer these questions and take the advice I have given you. Even though you have attacked me when I was really trying to help. There are many of these illegal scam trucking operations out there that prey on people just like you and me everyday. The reason I know so much about it, is that I have been through it. Do the SS-8 form today, as it is the best revenge you can get! It will get them audited, as well as fined, and they will have to pay back SS matching, unemployment insurance, and workmans compensation insurance. Make them pay.

Tammy, You also mentioned that they were ripping you off by not paying actual miles. If you had the experience you claim, you would know that it is very rare for any company to pay on hub/actual miles. In all of my years driving, and all of the companies I have driven for, I have seen only 2 companies that paid actual miles. Most companies pay on what is called practical miles, which are always less than your actual miles driven, sometimes by 5-10%. Then there are the companies that really rip you off they pay on short miles or HHG miles. These are calculated 2 ways. One method is zip code to zip code, and the other is straight line like a bird flies. Furthermore, did you not ask how the job paid BEFORE taking the job? As far as your statement that you work 24/7 while on the road. Well, this is just plain stupid, and illegal. And, once again, YOUR CHOICE. There is a thing called HOURS OF SERVICE. All of that time broke down or fixing the truck is logged as ON DUTY, NOT DRIVING and counts against your 15 hour maximum in service for the day. Most companies pay detention time while broke down after so many hours. The rule for being ON DUTY is determined as the requirement for you to be "in control and custody of the truck" or be in "readiness to work". These are DOT interpretations. So, unless you are in the bunk sleeping or on your logged 10 hours off duty time, you are legally on duty for purposes of HOS. Again, you chose to put in those hours and operate illegally and unsafely. It was your choice. That is not my stupid assumption or opinion. That is a fact, and is the law. And, FYI. It is a DAC report, not a DAQ report. Any experienced driver would know this.

Tammy, I am a seasoned, experienced truck driver with over 1.5 million commercial miles logged. So, what exactly do I not understand about trucking? I started a business from scratch and ran it, I was also a lease driver and also an employee at various times. The ultimate responsibility for the safe and legal operation of that vehicle is 100% on the driver. By law. If you drive an unsafe vehicle, that is YOUR CHOICE. No one can make you do it. An EXPERIENCED driver does a THOROUGH pre-trip inspection and FIXES all discrepancies BEFORE getting on the road. By your own posts you were relying on the mechanics to inspect your truck and you just kicked the tires and went on down the road. A GOOD pre-trip inspection will take AT LEAST 30 minutes EVERY DAY before starting your day driving. And, if you do not get dirty from getting under the truck and trailer, you DID NOT do a LEGAL pre-trip. Brake inspection is a mandated pre-trip item EVERY DAY and you must get on the ground to do it. Tires cannot be completely inspected either unless you get on the ground under the truck. All systems and guages are supposed to be checked BEFORE getting on the road. As far as the pay goes, the first time I wasn't paid on time as agreed, I would have been driving that truck to my next job! I've done it. I am not being mean to you, I am just educating you on the way it is supposed to be done. You made a series of bad decisions that put you in your current situation. Take responsibility.

They could not help me with my rent, but they helped me pay my other utility bills that were going to be shut off last week because I didn't have any money at all to pay them. I owe 2 months rent now. I was given a notice last week to pay or move out. I do not know anybody in this town whom I can stay with. So I guess I would end up losing everything I have and sleeping in my car in a parking lot because of the wickedness, selfishness and abusiveness of these evil, EEEEVIL MFL owners, Kenny Wilson, Jesse and Kendra Herd. I turned MFL into the Prosecuting Attorney a few days ago. And while I was at the agency to get assistance to pay for my utilities, they called MFL and threatend to call Channel 4 Problem Solvers if they didn't pay me. The lady at the agency gave me the phone and I spoke with a new accountant who had only been working for MFL for 6 weeks now. So she had absolutely no clue what was going on, except for all the lies the MFL owners told her. Her name was Cherrie Klaunch. I told Cherrie that I would meet her at their bank in Lawrence, Kansas to get my money in the form of a cashier's check. But she said that she was fixing the books, and that I had to call her by 4:30 later that day and she would tell me whether or not she would give me my money. So I called her when she asked me to, and then Kenny Wilson tells her to tell me that they got the letter from the Prosecuting Attorney, but they have until the 13th of October to take care of it. Weeeeellllll....these people just keep jerking me around, and jerking me around some more....playing games with me AND my life! They have owed this money to me for almost 4 months now, and instead of getting it over with, and GIVING ME MY MONEY, they want to play MORE GAMES and wait until the last day they are allowed to "deal with it". These people are unbelievably SELFISH to the core! They are the EPITAMY of selfishness, and they top the list of the most evil, wicked, self-centered, selfish people I have ever met in my life. They obviously don't care that I could be sleeping in my car in a parking lot in the next few days simply because they want to keep playing games with me and they are not wanting to give me my paycheck that I EARNED, and THAT I DESERVE. Thank you....I really appreciate you posting that D.O.T. safety report on MFL's safety record. One lady in the office - the one who does log books - even admitted to me that they have a bad rap sheet with D.O.T. Yes, MFL has a FMC license (Federal Motor Carrier), but every business is ALSO required by law to have a BUSINESS LICENSE in order to do business in that state, and Midwest Freight Lines DOES NOT have a license to conduct business in the state of Missouri. I already contacted the Secretary of State, and their records do NOT showing ANY records for MFL. And they told me they were sending out a letter to the company to tell them they have to get licensed. If they don't comply with State law, they will get shut down and I think fined for illegally operating a business - ROFL!!! Business licenses and Federal Motor Carrier licenses are different, not one and the same. One license does not cover the other. Every commercial truck is required to have both.

The truck broke down due to MFL's lack of maintenance. They have mechanics, and I assumed the mechanics were doing their job, checking out every truck thoroughly when it came back from a trip because THAT'S WHAT OTHER COMPANIES DO with their trucks when they have THEIR OWN MECHANICS. If the mechanics weren't doing their job, then how would I have known that? I'm just a driver! All I can do is a BASIC pre-trip inspection that the D.O.T. requires. If everything looks fine, I drive it. If it doesn't, I won't. MFL doesn't have very many trucks. I think they have only 10 to my knowlege. So every truck should be well maintained, and there should not be any excuses for them to not find time to check every one out when they come back. The problem is that every truck in MFL's in OWNER-OPERATED - MFL does NOT own ANY of their own trucks. So the problem is that people who have never driven trucks before in their entire life, go buy CHEAPLY PRICED TRUCKS not knowing what to look for, and what NOT to look for, and then the driver ends up in a piece of junk truck. It may look all nice and shiny on the outside, and the engine might look good and clean, but until you get in the truck and start driving it, then you don't see all the problems it has until the truck starts breaking down on the road. So these people who know NOTHING about truck driving go buy a truck REAL CHEAP, lease it onto a company such as Midwest Freight Lines, and the driver gets stuck driving a piece of junk. The only equipment that Midwest Freight Lines owns is trailers, and THOSE trailers are OLD pieces of garbage! People: if you don't know anything about truck driving, and have never driven a truck before....do the rest of the world a favor....get some experience under your belt driving a truck yourself for at least a couple years so you understand all the aspects of truck driving before you go buy a truck of your own and sign it on with a company. AND don't buy trucks with real cheap prices just because you think you're getting a good deal because it's going to have too many problems, and all that does is cause problems for the driver; then the driver (or you) doesn't make any money because they are sitting on the side of the road all day - and that's not fair to the driver because you wanted to be a cheapskate and don't want to spend a little more money for a better truck. For some reason, so many people (mostly people who have never driven trucks before in their entire life)...but these people have this big idea in their heads that you can make a ton of money driving a truck. They think big truck = big $$$$, and it's NOT true! All they see is a big truck going down the road...what you guys don't realize is that driver is AT WORK 24/7 from the day he/she gets in the truck, until the day they get back in town, park it, lock it up, and go home! You only get paid for each mile you drive, and truck driving companies short you on your miles. They don't pay ACTUAL miles; they only pay what a book tells them to pay the driver, so that leaves them alot of room to cheat the driver out of their money. If I drive 3500 miles in one week, I may get paid for only 3300 miles. Over-the-road Drivers don't get paid to sit in traffic, do log books, get fuel, wash the truck, for breakdowns, to sit at docks waiting to get loaded or unloaded....you only get paid WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING. One time I added up all the hours I sat around waiting to get loaded or unloaded, and in ONE WEEK, I added up 40 hours sitting around that I DIDN'T GET PAID FOR! - and people think driving a truck is good money??? ROFL! Truck driving AS A PROFESSION itself should be listed under RipOffReport.com to make the unwise wiser - to educate the ignorant people who think driving a truck is such good money that they want to pay a truck driving school several hundred dollars to get a CDL license. If I had known what I was getting myself into several years ago, I would have done something different. Now I'm stuck. Make your career decisions wisely! And I'm the one who will end up in jail because MFL didn't pay their ticket like they SAID they did (several times). I only have about $100 to my name now, and I will have to return a vacuum cleaner I bought from Costco several months ago just so I can keep gas in my car and buy food. I still haven't paid my rent for September, have no rent money for October, and have not paid ANY of my utility bills for almost three months. I was counting on the paycheck that MFL FINALLY gave me to clear the bank, but the check BOUNCED, so now I'm in a financial crises because of these jerks. I would use a stronger word than "jerk", but I don't like using profanity. Most of the people in this profession are very, VERY dishonest people. STAY AWAY from this kind of work, unless you're a fool. I'm trying to get out of it. But when people like MFL rip me off, it makes it really hard to reach my goals and make the changes in my life that I want and need to make.

Tammy, You are entitled to a FREE copy of the DAC report once per year under the FCRA. You have right to dispute. You also have the right to add a 100 word statement. As an employee, file a wage claim with the DOL. It is illegal for them to hold your pay, or to make any deductions that were not authorized by you in writing at time of hire. As far as the condition of the truck, especially the numerous blowouts. That was your choice to take an unsafe vehicle. That is the law. Nobody can force you to drive an unsafe vehicle. If you did a pretrip inspection and documented discrepancies they would have had no choice. It was up to you under federal law to take that vehicle out of service. If you chose to drive it, that was your mistake. Go to the FMCSA website and file a complaint against the carrier. You can also get a history on thier authority and a safety rating, which you can help make worse. You actually have the upper hand here. If these turkeys are not even licensed, you should be contacting and reporting them to the Department of Transportation also download form 3949A and report them to Internal Revenue Service, you'll recieve 10% of what they find wrong with the company. Federal Trade Commission is a good place to report them too. Make a wrtten complaint to EEOC as well, sounds like they lojacked you and given you a false record and it sounds like they are making these accusations to make themselves credible in a court of law. Tammy - sounds like life with a smaller carrier - for what you are looking for you need to talk to some of the big name national carriers. If your old employer is messing with your driving record unfairly, the chances are good that other carriers know about it and will listen to your side of the story.

I had to make ANOTHER extra trip - at my expense again - to the office to pickup my paycheck because these people don't keep their word and do what they say they're going to do, WHEN they SAY they're going to do it! They do whatever they want and to hell with anybody else! When I got to their office to pick up my paycheck, I had to wait an additional half-hour before they would even give me my check! And Kenny had the nerve to tell me to be patient!!! I was already patient enough for THREE MONTHS!!! I had already waited to get my paycheck that I already worked for and earned THREE MONTHS beforehand, and now they made me wait even longer to get my paycheck while I was standing outside their office !!! How RUDE and INCONSIDERATE!!! You would think that if they really wanted to settle this, that they would have had the check already to go as soon as I walked through the door. It would only be out of common courtesy and respect to do so. But none of the owners at Midwest Freight Lines understand the meaning of the words "courtesy", "respect", and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", or "you reap what you sow". I took the check to my bank the same day and deposited it. Good thing I didn't use any of the money to pay my rent that I'm a MONTH behind on, OR any of my utility bills that I have not paid for nearly THREE MONTHS now! Because I called the bank yesterday (Tuesday, September 19, 2006) to make sure the check cleared....and just as I expected - THE CHECK DID NOT CLEAR MY BANK because of INSUFFICIENT FUNDS!!!!
