I worked for Direct Fairways. I was their Senior Grpahic Designer for 11 months. I know they scam people because I dealt with 15-25 clients a day designing their ads and sending off proofs for approval or changes needed. Everyday I would get clients on the phone who liked my ad design, but we're concerned and livid because they were over charged sometimes 2 or 3 times the amount they agreed to. They charged $375 per ad for 1 year of advertising on either a Golf Scorecard or Golf Course Guide for Golf Courses all over the Nation. Their clients were sold on the idea that the product would be delivered to the golf course within 120 days. A blatant lie! It never happened that way....more like 365 days. I was told to remind them their year didn't start until the product was delivered to the course. After months of telling the same people over and over the bullshit my boss told me to say I wised up and realized my employers and their company was a complete scam! So many small businesses claimed to me they were over charged 2 or 3 times the amount their contract stated. I'd have to pull their contract look at it, realized they were over charged and then go talk to the Operations Manager about the discrepancy. Time after time after time emails would come through, "where's my ad" "why hasn't this gone to print" why has it taken 8 months" "why did you over charge me". I came to the conclusion, they were stealing in order to pay their bills. When I started asking the hard questions myself, my boss got up in my face twice and threatened to sue me for everything I had. This is the truth! He didn't like that I knew what he was doing so he conjured up a story that I was trying to start my own golf advertising agency and I was not allowed to keep any of my designs for my portfolio. He threatened to sue me. He told me if I didn't sign an NDA agreement I'd be fired. And! He got in my face nose to nose. I'm 26 and live paycheck to paycheck I don't have the means to start my own startup or pay for printing costs. It was completely ridiculous.
