Don't use Mr. Handyman!!

Don't use Mr. Handyman Anne Arundel County/Prince George's!!

They are con artists and cheats who take advantage of single and older people who can't do work themselves and need handymen!!

I was charged $923.00 (!) for them to install 6 lights where there were already fixtures (tops 15 minutes per), hang 2 mirrors (same), and install one sink cabinet (2 hours tops). The technician dragged out the call to last all day when that was not necessary, and left each job he did do half done when the work he was doing uncovered patching that was needed. I had specifically requested patching services when I made the order. The person who took my order only told me the max I could be charged was $799.00.

Management was rude, insulting and inflammatory after they waited a week to call me back to follow up on my complaint, and I wasn't waiting at the phone to receive their belated call but did return their call the following day. They acted like I was some kind of deadbeat, totally disrespectful. Didn't give a d**n about my concerns. I was clearly overcharged; don't let the same happen to you!! Do not call these cheaters and liars!!

New Owner responds

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Sun, January 16, 2011

Forgive me if this appears more than once. I submitted a report but it does not seem to have posted.

I bought this company in July 2010, about a year after this incident. I was updating my company profile on line when I came across this. Ouch!

Fortunately, most of what I have found online has been positive, but one unhappy customer is one too many.

I don't think this person works for us anymore, because I have great technicians - total pros, and this doesn't sound like one of my guys. Worst part of this report is that the work was done badly. IF the work had been done well, it could take 6-8 hours to replace 6 fixtures, hang 2 mirrors and install a vanity. But this was clearly not quality work.

What really shocks me is the company's response. This is not the way I do business. If a customer is unhappy, I want to hear from them. I will go to the home, look at the problem and do whatever it takes to get it fixed.

Perhaps that is why our company won an Angie's List Super Service Provider Award for 2010.

If I can track this person down, I will call her - even after all this time, I want to see if there is anything I can do to make it up to him or her.
