We cleaned the air conditioner on Friday. We received a call on Tues stating it wasn't cooling anymore. We responded to the call that day. The technician noted that the unit had been kicked off the pad, the blade broken and the copper kinked. After talking to the Owner I decided to look at it my self and make a decision. Unfortunately I had a family emergency and could not come. We called that morning to let everyone know. I saw no sense in sending another tech to report the same findings you weren't happy with the first time. I came by on Monday just as I had stated. My findings were the same as the technicians. Someone had vandalized the unit. On Friday the day we cleaned the unit your father or father in-law was their along with the owner. He even brought the hose around to us. We cleaned it and left. The story throughout this has changed several times on your behalf. First the owner said the Engineer in fact is not an engineer. In fact has nothing to do with HVAC. The owner agreed that someone would have had to shove it off the pad. The breaker was off while we were their. This we knew, the unit did not need to be run in the condition it was in if you wanted to repair it. I told the owner while I was there that it could be repaired. Blade minimum, maybe motor and the kink in the copper removed. He also said that he had a brother in law in the business that could replace it, and I stated if he could get it at cost and put in free he should do it. I also said I would sell him one at cost. I also said no charge for the cleaning because he was a nice young man that seemed as sincere as I was. I did not ask for the cleaning money because I felt bad for him. This is NOT an admission of guilt! I can put a lien on your property for the money you owe on the cleaning. I also gave the owner another solution of filing a police report and claiming it with his homeowners insurance. As you can tell I was trying to hide nothing but in fact trying to help in any way possible. I was also told no one was home and the neighbors said the unit was extremely noisy. The story has changed again stating now that it didn't cool all week end and on Monday you called, which we have no record of nor does your warranty company. If your unit had in fact been making this loud noise all weekend while you were home why did you continue to run it and not call? The motor is a 1/4 HP 230v 2.0 amp motor that doesn't have the power to move your 200 lb plus condenser off the pad and kink the copper. While at the home I also took pictures of the unit and will be happy to share them. Bottom line is we stand to gain nothing by abusing your unit. You were home while the work was done and you called back 4 days later and this is what was found. My technicians nor I have anything to gain by damaging your equipment. Your AHS policy does not cover abuse therefore we would never be paid by AHS or you for this type of repair. Sincerely, Andy Murphy
