MX, MX Energy Billing Practices/Questionable Ethics Houston Texas
Not sure exactly where this company is located, my papers say Texas although there are different branches. After talking with PSE&G in New Jersey about MX crazy bill, and having a MX rep on the line (at which time the MX rep suddenly turned polite(ish) but still talked down, as previously), when asked if they do any interim billing or notification, she said no, they are "working on that because they have had complaints." Please do not sign up with MX no matter what state you are in, for your own financial health and well being.
They start with one budget rate which they then vary widely, and in turn have the luxury of leaving the blame to PSE&G or whoever your main carrier would be, they lower the rate extremely, but as I do not work for a utility company, I would not know the reasoning, I would presume it is correctly calculated - seems actually to be a wild guess - so then you apparently are building up a backlog of underpaid charges which they do not tell you about. I had called to see why the rate varied so much, and they told me I owed $1,800.00 - and this is on a budget plan. The minute I could cancel them without a fee being charged, I did.
The representative was rude, they do not return calls, they take forever to send requested records, I did contact BPU which was the only reason someone did return my call, and the rep, as I said, did admit they do not notify customers of charges accrued, nor do they apparently adjust their rates appropriately. They also talk down, which is quite insulting and shows their lack of professionalism. I am presuming I am pretty much stuck having to pay this bill off over time, but I will be writing to the President of MX to advise him their procedures seem quite shady and unethical.
If you are with MX now, I would suggest you call them to see how much you unwittingly owe, as if I had not and remained with them, this would probably run into the tens of thousands one day, and I would know nothing about it, and if you are considering them, I beg you, do not sign up, no matter what they promise.
