Started getting calls and automated phone messages last week from First Credit of America. They wanted a 59.95 cancellation fee and claimed to have my credit card number, SSN, and address and said I last transacted with myperfectcredit.com in March 2005. My wife took the call and asked that they provide proof. It seems odd that if they have my credit card number that they wouldn't just charge it.

I signed up at clearcredit.com in July 03 for what was called the 15/5 plan. There were no fees whatsoever. They charged $5 for a disputed item and $15 if they resolved it. There was not a speck on my record, so I was never charged and received no emails, no calls, no letters... for 2 years. Then this call from 1st Credit of America claiming to collect for My Perfect Credit.

I Googled and found this site with all these complaints to confirm my suspicion. I contacted the FBI on their website and they called within 3 minutes to tell me to contact the Federal Trade Commission (ftc.gov). I filed complaints there, with the BBB, and the GA District Attorney. These are some serious crooks who cannot be allowed to get away. And if they start ruining people's credit... there will be &%*#@ to pay. I don't care if it's a nickel or $100k, I certainly would not give a credit card number over the phone to anyone who makes claims they are not backing up.

Question is, where did they get the list? Did Clear Credit put all of their member database on a list as owing in order to jack up their accounts receivable when My Perfect Credit bought them in early 2005? This is the 1st call I have EVER received from a credit agency and the rudeness they showed my wife ("we always catch people in their little lies" "you mean you aren't going to correct your husband's mistake") has me steaming for revenge.

I called the 866-505-8249 number they have been leaving on my machine and got a recording that I would have 2 seconds to leave a message... and it was not kidding. Finally, I was home tonight to take their call and informed them of ripoffreport.com, the fact that I do not owe them money unless they provide written proof, that I have reported them to the FTC and BBB, and the lady literally did not flinch. She admitted that she had been to ripoffreport.com. I told her I absolutely would not pay without written proof and she said it would be reported as 'refusal to pay' and 'collections continue'. I can't wait to see justice enacted upon these interstate criminals. Take whatever action you can against them. Good luck.

I, too, was a "victim" of this scam!

Like so many hundreds of people, I, too, was a victim of My Perfect Credit. The fraudulent charges appeared on my credit report, I got incessant telephone calls from their "collection" department, and I was offered to make them "go away" by simply settling for $50. I refused. Then the person reminded me that I had given them not only my credit card number but my Social Security number, too! I filed my own complaint with Rip-Off Report this past summer. Armed with great information from this site, the first thing I did was block their various numbers on my telephone. Try it. It works! The calls kept coming for weeks, but they simply could not get through. The second thing I did was file a complaint with the BBB because of fraudulent advertising. About one month after filing this complaint, I received notice that the company stated they had removed me from collections. I hope you, too, will be able to successfully win your battle with this company. If everyone who has had this happen to them will file a report on Rip-Off Report and contact the BBB, it will obviously make a difference. BTW, the Better Business rating for this company is "F"!

Clear your credit?

To my knowledge, no-one has the power to clear your credit report. I doubt this company can do anything that you couldn't do yourself for the price of a few stamps. If you owe, you owe. If you didn't pay your bills, no-one can make it disappear. All that you can do is pay your bills from now on and live with it. To my thinking, anything else would be fraud.
