Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have received a number of semi-threatening voice messages from a man alternately claiming to be Tony DeSinzo or Mike Stone (he has also given other pseudonyms.) He makes vague threats and claims "patience is no longer a virtue" and I should call him back at 1-866-529-1899. On one occasion my 6-year-old answered a call from their number (716-650-6240) and was told we were "in trouble with the law" (not true.) I reported this to the police.

I called the 1-866-529-1899 number and instructed the lady who answered to put us on their "don't call list." She was extremely rude and told me to "Shut up!" I have reported this to the police.

I was then advised to tape a call instructing them to remove my number. This would provide proof of harrassment if further calls are made, resulting in a $1,000 fine per call. I got the same lady, who funnily enough was quite pleasant once she undertood she was being recorded:-) Her supervisor, however, seemed semi-educated and unprofessional and was quite nasty. However, if they now call me I can collect for harrassment and I have irrefutable proof, so I'm happy about that:-)

Bob, you have NEVER spoken to me. Here's how I know.

Bob, You have never spoken to me, because I always follow RULE#1. NEVER speak to any debt collector on the phone. This rule is absolute and should ALWAYS be followed. There is absolutely no valid reason to speak to any third party debt collector. It will never produce positive results for the debtor. As far as the lawsuit goes, I never said I sued NAFS. They backed down and closed my file upon reciept of my first letter. You are upset that I am educating many people on how to avoid the abuses of debt collectors. I am taking away your percieved power. Without telephone contact, a collector is virtually unemployed. That is my goal.

I am an employee at N.A.F.S. and I think I have actually spoken to Steve before.I find it amusing that he feels the need to insult debt collectors personally.Understand that we are doing a necessary job and do not intend to be nasty or harass everyone. Oh and by the way,Im not aware of any supposive "law suit" that has ever been filed against NAFS by this Steve guy.

Maya, You have recourse. First, file a complaint online for each violation of your rights under the FDCPA at FTC.gov. You can sue for each of these violations. The profile of a debt collector is a very scary one. These are usually people with some issues in their past that give them the need to get even, or have some percieved power. They enjoy the safety of their cubicle and the comfort of their crack pipe. They use the telephone as a tool aginst little old ladies and disabled people. This makes them feel good to harass, abuse, and intimidate people. They now feel powerful. Their EGO is satisfied. These are usually people who have severe issues of inadequacy in their daily lives, whether they are short, bald, fat, impotent, etc. Most have drug and alcohol issues as well as sever debt issues themselves. They say things to people over the safety of their phone line that they would never say to someone face to face. Here is the info on them: Agency Details: National Action Financial Services, Inc. 165 Lawrence Bell Dr Ste 100 Williamsville, NY 14221-7817 Phone: (716) 565-1020 Fax: (716) 565-1035 Web Address: www.sitel.com Head Debt Collector: Michael W. Fletcher - CEO Roger E. Carney - President & COO NAFS' Parent Company is SITEL Risk Management out of Omaha, NE
