National Home Protection NHP Doesn't Pay Contractor New York New York
National Home Protection home warranty company hired my company to perform service work for one customer. We are not a regular contractor they use - but there was no one else in the area and the customer needed work done. We did the work immediately (Oct. '07) and billed immeditely and as of Fe. 4, '08 we have yet to see a dime of what they owe us.
Twice we've been told the check is in the mail. Then we received a letter stating we were in violation of some agreement we've never seen nor signed (remember we aren't a regular provider with them). Now they are avoiding our calls.
The bottom line is that if a home warranty company chooses not to honor their agreements with it's contractor's, it won't have contractors. Then the warranty becomes an expensive piece of window dressing for a homeowner. There is no question in my mind that this is the reason that the company offers a warranty in an area where they have no contractors!
Realtors and home buyers should carefully check the reputations of the home warranty companies they hire.
