Jim, In retrospect, you are absolutely right. I did not know about payment upfront until they emailed me at 5 pm the night before the move, and I had to vacate. I have already told them that extortion is illegal and so in intimidation. I think that stopped them. Another person told me that they threatened him/her also.

Not one reputable mover would EVER ask for the full amount of cash upfront before the move takes place. NOT ONE. If they asked that from you - you should have found another mover and told these idiots to go find some fool to move. I don't know what rate you paid per hour for these morons, but in the end, you would have paid less for the use of a reputable company, and probably received better people to do the move. There's nothing they can do to you either, short of physical violence. They can't take you to court and sue you for defamation, etc.... If they do threaten to sue you, tell them to pound sand. Chalk this one up to education and don't pay for moving services upfront to ANYONE.
