Was working with Nationwide Consumer Advocates on a home loan modification. The parent company is American Financial Resources. In April,  the modification was denied. I called NCA and was told they would resubmit the application. Received a letter from the bank that a foreclosure sale was being scheduled in July. Called NCA again and I asked what was going on. They told me they did resubmit but no proof was offered. NCA offered to submit a BK13 using Cornerstone Law Group. The court evidently did not accept it so they submitted again with schedules. Evidently this was not accepted either. I paid $1185 for the BK13 filing and have no proof that it was actually filed. Emailed Lexie Anderson  and  asked for a refund . Lexie replied and stated that a refund was coming. I am still waiting for the refund. I think these people will tell you anything to get you off their back.  I checked with the California Bar and find no listing for Cornerstone so I suspect there is not a lawyer involved but only a paralegal- if that.  So far, I get no response to requests for the refund. My next step is to report this the the State Attorney General.

There was never a contract because it was not countersigned.

The fact is that after getting a denial on the loan modification request and being told a new loan mod package would be submitted and never was I received a foreclosure sale notice. I was tol by Lexie that I could file a Chapter bankruptcy to hold off the sale. This would cost me $1185. I got a bill notice from Cornerstone Law Group for this and paid it. I complete the forms and sent them back, To the best of my knowledge, this was never done. The filing was to be in Hawaiaan Gardens, California. Ther is no Federal Court there and that is where a bankruptcy has to be filed. NCA, AFR and Cornerstone are all linked together. I do not think there are any attorney at Cornerstone. I doubt there even any paralegals.  The only thing that stopped the foreclosure was my filing a new loan mod request. The ineptness of these people are what put me in a bad siutuation. I have asked for a refund many times and get stonewalled. I hired an attorney to file lawsuit against the bank and that is proceeding at this time.  The attorney has also sent notice demanding the refund and that has had no response. None of the parties are attorneys.

I am getting ready to file a complaint witht the California Attorney General about the pratices of these people.

I welcome a so called defamation lawsuit from  these people. I welcome the chance to get in front of a judge and tell tham about the pratices of these companies. I do not think the judge would be pleased.

The fact that this company is monitoring this website tells me they have had complaints before.

Edward Bullis was a client of my former employer NCA, and signed a contract with NCA over a year and half ago after his consultation. He was 2 years behind on his mortgage, under water, and had over 50k in arrears. He signed an agreement for a loan modification which NCA initiated IMMEDIATELY on his behalf. I informed him during the consultation that his lender as well as many other lenders unfortunately are nototioous for loosing documents, failing to follow up for confirmination of document's received, and consistently changing relationship managers and POC'S. He not only seemed to understand but agreed with me and atated it had been hhis experience throughout the entire process. Bullis was in imminent default with a looming sale date, so it was explained to him that if for any reason your lender refuses to postpone your sale date that either NCA can handle postponing your sale or you can use another entity to stop the sale. Because foreclosure prevention was not a service included in his contract, he was informed in advance that there was a service fee which he agreed to pay and decided he wanted NCA to postpone his sale date which prevented his home from going to sale. There were never any request or suggesttions made for additional or advance fee's concerning his modification, and NCA worked strictly on a contingency basis throughout the process. Mr. Bullis was considered a rude, and entitled client who displayed extreme highs and lows, however NCA continued to work with him assuming his behavior was contributed to the stress and anxiety behind fighting for his home. Later on Mr. Bullis contacted me irrate informing me that he just got off the phone with his lender and they told him they never received requested information which was a falsehood, and shortly after requested that the company refund him for a service which prevented his home from going to sale. I found his request absurd, however I told him I am not a manager, I do not handle refunds, and I will forward your request to management and they will follow up and make a decision. When NCA did not reply as quickly as he demanded he began to harass me on a consistent basis by email, and by phone at work and at home. He threatened to go to the Attorney General and I encouraged to do so, but for whatever reason he relented. I explained to him that the AG handles cases for homeowners that were victims of fraud, not for individuals who did not pay their mortgage for 2 years, contrated a company who did not charge them in advance, and then demanded a refund (despite your home not going to sale) because your lender is taking too long, or you feel NCA was deliberately impeding the process of your case. This sad human is attempting to make myself the center of issue regardless of the fact that I never acted, represented, or held the position as a manager, processor, or owner of the company he contracted. His compalint is a gross misuse of the site, and Edwin Bullis has recently been informed of the consequences of defamation of character, and the legal consequences facing him soon in addition to the enevitable loss of his home for acting so percipitously.
