Nationwide Movers rip-off! Damaged furniture, moved slow, gave attitude! Tarzana California
We hired Nationwide for a local move from Sherman Oaks to Altadena. It was a 2bdrm 1 bath house with a 2 car garage, and I was told they would bring a truck large enough to take everything. First, they were 2 hours late. Instead of being there between 8-9am, as promised, they showed up at 10:30am. I was told this was a dispatch "mix-up". They sent 2 movers and a 24' truck.
For the first 2 hours, they were great. They had 3/4 of my house in the truck in 2 hours. Then they started to slow down. Another hour and a half later, we were finally ready to go, but there wasn't room in the truck for 2 tables and a 2-seater glider from my backyard. I certainly wasn't going to send them back, so now I have to go back myself with another truck. Then, they drove so slow pulling out of my house and onto the freeway that I lost them.
At the new house, everything was fine for the first hour or so. Then I ordered pizza and they took a 1/2 hour lunch break, and everything went to hell from there. It was like turning off a light switch. It finally took so long, that my husband and 3 of our friends who were there to welcome us to our new house, began helping unload the truck.
At almost 6pm, the driver told me we had to pay him and settle the transaction before they could finish unloading. He added the additional time it would take to unload the truck, and wound up charging me $611 for 7 1/2 hours. I paid him $615.00 cash, which he counted four times before giving me s**t about not giving them a tip. Keep in mind that this whole time I was paying him, MY FAMILY WAS UNLOADING THE REST OF THE TRUCK. Neither of these guys stepped foot in my house again.
I fed them, made sure there was plenty of water and gatorade, and tried to make the move as easy as possible. These guys were a nightmare, and by then end, I just wanted them out of my house, whatever the cost. They had promised me they would be professional, which they were not. I wouldn't ever use them or recommend them to anyone.
