Befriended me and my family and after a couple of weeks acted like he needed some work and we would be doing him a big favor.

We gave him some work to do, but when he went to buy our materials he wrote bad checks to the supplier and basically used stolen goods to do the initial work on our property.  We didn't know it, so we gave him more work and more money for more materials.

Now, he has left an incomplete mess and has like five phone numbers and avoids our calls.  Only picks up when we use a number he doesn't recognize.  Here are his verified numbers:

(813) 360-8934

(813) 513-0490

(813) 803-5675

We did a background check and found he has served time for Check Fraud and obtaining property with false funds, and has a long record of civil suits against him with corresponding liens.

There are complaints against him by people he hired, then paid them with a bad check and disappeared.

Also has about 17 Better Business Bureau complaints against his company while in Clarksville, Tennessee.

There is a Facebook page dedicated to him: Scammed by Don Lewis which seems kept pretty up-to-date.

He has done this a lot and will look you straight in the face and lie, swear on his dead mother's grave (Alma Lewis), talks about values growing up on a farm, and claims he was in the military.  Says he was married before and has two daughters from a previous marriage.  We don't believe any of it and are still left with a mess.

Last time we saw him he was living in the Zephyrhills, Florida area out of a 36' Landau RV and drove a white truck with a READING utility rear and overhead cage.  Partial Tennessee tag on truck: "217 6__"

He was married in 2010 to Amy Lynn Eckel (now Lewis) from Orlando, and they have a toddler with them.

We were also recently scammed by this man.  Sure wish I had googled his name but found him through a website which states they do background checks on the person and the company...so we are in touch with them also! (website is thumbtack.com - don't trust them either..they obviously didn't do the checks they promise to)

Amy - he has had 3 warrants for his arrest in Tennessee. Believe me, the police were at my house just a few nights ago and coming back today to complete the charges. Their system shows many, many, many legal issues with your husband.  Your husband is a thief.  We have taken legal action (although he'll probably never be caught and we know he won't show up in court) but the more his name is on their system,  one day he'll get caught.  Whether it's in Tampa, Tennesee or wherever you go next.

Disgusted that there are people like this!  What a disgusting feeling to know he has our money for doing absolutely nothing for us!  What a disgusting feeling that I let this man in my home. The only thing keeping me going is hoping that he used this money to at least feed his son and wife because for some reason I feel such pity that they must live with this man.

Now on to begin saving $ to hire someone to actually come do the work!

FYI - he is also driving a navy blue truck now.  He showed up the first time in the white truck in late May/early June.  Last time on 6/23 he was in a navy blue truck.  Didn't get license plate because oh, I didn't know he was a scam artist at that time so why would I think to do that!!!

This is how I know you're lying. I do not answer the phone. I do not run the company. Furthermore, he has no warrants. I checked with fdle. You are a liar. You know you are because you don't even have the nerve to leave your name. You are a cyber bully.

Florida,
And why do you answer the business phone?

Aren't you the same Amy that answers the business phone, (813) 360-8934, with "Nature's Best Irrigation Services, this is Amy..."?

Someone has done so on several verification calls over time.

And, you know, with every lie, there is often some truth, Amy, so, if you really do have some fear for yours and/or your child's safety, you should seriously consider the resources available to persons in bad domestic situations.  They will help you and your child get away and will help keep Don away.

Florida,
Really, Amy?

Really? You don’t support your husband’s activities in any way?  Then why are YOU even looking at and responding to this Ripoff Report?  If YOU were really an innocent party, YOU would be GLAD you found this information, if you didn’t already know it, and then use it to consider what kind of person you are married to.  No, you are guilty by your very close association.

As for law enforcement, your husband has had lots of experience ripping people off this way, to the point where he knows just how to manuever around so that there is little that can be done under the law against him.  Maybe if your husband stayed in one location, the law could catch up with him, but he doesn’t does he?  How many times have you gotten up and moved in the last 4 months, the last year, or the last 4 years that you have been with him?

Of course you don’t know who I am – you conveniently turn a blind eye to the faces of the victims of your husband’s scams.  Your husband, Donald William Lewis, leaves a bunch of frustrated victims with his scams with not much recourse but whatever we can creatively come up with.  Guess what – we are all finding each other and we are banding together to shut down his scams.

And, PLEASE, give me a break with your victim act. That’s the same game your husband uses whenever he is confronted – makes it seem like he is feeling threatened somehow and the victim of his scam is the trouble-maker.  Unlike him, we are law abiding citizens that don’t appreciate having OUR hard earned money stolen by his scams and are helping to prevent others from suffering the same fate.  I hope that’s not cramping your husband’s income too much.

And WHY doesn’t your husband simply make an honest living?  He could if he really wanted to.  He certainly has the gift of gab.  And he knows how to talk the talk as far as irrigation.  And he could probably even do the labor.  But no, instead, for whatever demons lie under his bed or are hiding in his closet and he has not yet owned up to nor faced like a man, he allows himself to instead choose to write bad checks to suppliers and his own laborers, disappear with advanced payment before a contract is completed, and avoids phone calls and texts.  Do you believe those same demons will not affect you, or are you hiding from yours, too?  Peas in a pod?

I did not mention what gender your toddler was, nor did I mention a name. All I did was indicate there is a family involved – isn’t that what your advertisement says – family owned?

Welcome to America, Amy, where there is Freedom of Speech, as well as the freedom you and your husband have to choose how you make a living.

My name is Amy Lewis. I do not work for this company. I am just married to him. I don't appreciate my name or my son being mentioned in this complaint. If my husband did this, please call law enforcement. Please take my name off of this posting and please dont mention my son. We didn't do anything to you and I don't even know who you are. I'm to the point now that I am fearing for my and my son's safety.
