NextCard dba Bank of Omaha I'm Asked to be Patient?! ripoff business Norcross Georgia
Ever since NextCard filed bankruptsy and was taken over by Bank of Omaha, I have experienced nothing but a nightmare. I pay them electronically by my bank and yet they never seem to get my payment in time so as to charge me a $35 late fee. Because of their tardiness in posting my account and assessing these late fees, my interest rate has jumped to almost 24%!
When I call the toll free number to talk to someone and if I say just the wrong thing, they hang up on me! Saturday morning I had a call from someone who barely spoke English inquiring why my account was 54 past due....I assure you it is not. I ended up involving my bank which in turn created a conference call between them, Bank of Omaha and myself. The person who we were talking to was completely rude. She wanted my bank rep's full name but refused to give her last name. After she found out my bank had copies of my electronic checks to prove my account was in good standing, she put a senior supervisor on the line. This person told me I should be patient with them while they are getting the NextCard accounts lined out. I asked was it fair that I was being charged a $35 late fee while they did that and was it my fault that NextCard filed bankruptsy? Answer: She hung up on us!
Today I get a collection notice in the mail for $35. Go figure. My husband and I are seriously thinking about filing a Class Action lawsuit against them if we could get enough people involved. If the card was only in my name (I'm the primary card holder), I would just not pay them and let them turn me over to the credit bureau. In Texas the worse they can do is file a judgement against you which is all but worthless.
I am willing to do my part if anyone else decides they want to do more than be abused by this company.

After writing the Texas Attorney General and writing the BBB in Atlanta, GA, I have finally decided, after reading more and more of the same complaints that I'm not paying another red cent to NextCard! My credit? I'm sure it's ruined now anyway so what difference will it make! I'm going to pay them until they get their act together and hope that others will follow. We are the victims here.....we didn't go bankrupt and create this mess in this first place!!
