It's the day after Thanksgiving and there are sales all over the mall. A mall that is 45 minutes to an hour away from home. I went there with my mom and we couldn't find parking in front of the Lenox Square Mall so we parked in the plaza with American Apparel right next to it. We walked to the mall and spent very few hours and spent about 30 bucks. Then we come out to go back to our car and the next thing we know.. we have a bright orange ticket on the driver's window and a shoe around our tire telling us that our car is immobilized and cannot be driven off for it has been shoed to be towed for leaving the property.

This was our first time parking there and there were several (100s) of other cars that were also ticketed for towing b/c they left the property. Turns out it's a private property plaza. The 2 white men in a big white truck, took our money - $50 to be let go (you can pay by cash, credit/debit card) which was more than I intended to spend and I DON"T HAVE MONEY - and they told us that the signs are everywhere.

NUMBER ONE: The signs were on poles and were angled not towards us. So OF COURSE we wouldn't look up and read it! They were higher up and if they were put at a lower, more readable area then we obviously would not park there and leave! They are white boards with gray, mediocre bold fonts and a wee bit high to even have me say.. "OH HEY LOOKIE THERE! WE'LL BE TOWED if we leave the property"

AND TWO: Noone's stupid to not ignore a clearly written sign.

The other thing is.. the way they worded the sign. It was not very clear. I'll take a picture and send it to you when I get the chance to go there again. If they had it in bold red letters IF YOU PARK HERE AND LEAVE PROPERTY YOU CAR WILL BE TOWED. But Noooooooooooooo! They WATCH YOU to see if you're gonna be leaving the property and then tag your car for towing. It was freakin' day after Thanksgiving where people go there to spend their money on sales! They didn't even WAIVE the fee even if we were first timers!!

Whoever that rich b*****d is for scamming all those people including me, he should pay all of us back and more! Even my friends agreed that THAT was a SCAM!!

Please.. help me out.

Law Regarding Tow Away Signs

The law in Georgia states that signs must be posted at the all entrances to a parking lot. Any other signs are simply a courtesy. Usually, people parking where they aren't supposed to simply say to themselves that no one is watching or I'll just be a minute, so it won't matter. I doubt that there was NO parking, probably just not any close parking.. I have a hard time believing that there were NO parking spaces at a place as large as Lenox Square.

what people will ignore. i work for a towing company florida and do the same type of towing. we tow from a lot next to a mall, and there are 19 signs that are 12x18, red lettering thru out the lot, that say parking for customers and employees only. All capital letters. That is on top of the standard tow-away signs at the entrance. They are posted at eye level. Yet, people just ignored them and went to the mall. We towed ALOT of cars, and eveybody has an excuse. Im sure its no different where yo are.
