Complaint Review: Nissan of Norwich - Norwich Connecticut

On Thursday 03/18/2010 I went to Nissan of Norwich with the intent to trade my 2000 Hyndai Sonata for a newer vehicle. I was introduced to my Saleman Mario and told him what I was looking for. He introduced me to the Sales Manager named Sammy. He stated he had I car that I would be very interested in. At that time I stated that whatever vehicle I purchase it must be able to be towed as I travel with my motor home. They showed mr a 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid. i asked if the vehicle could be towed and was told by both Sammy and Mario that it would not be a problem. I took the car out for a test drive with my salesman and was very impressed with the car and decided to purchase the 2007 Altima hybrid. Part of the package was that they would take care of the chngeout of my towing equipment. I was told they do not do that kind of work so they referred me to a company that they do business with that could do the job. Phone calls where made and an appointment set up for the next day, Friday 03/19/2010. They cut me a check for $550.00 to cover the cost. On Friday morning I went to Macara, which is the name of the company they set me up with, and spoke to the owner. He started making phone calls to order the necessay parts and was at that time informed that the could not be towed. If I wanted to tow this vehicle I would have to use a tow dolly or a trailer. I called the dealership and informed them of the situation and was told someone would get back to me shortly. I waited all day Friday and Saturday but no phone calls came. After stewing about this mess and realizing that I had been lied to and misled all for the sake of making a sale, Sunday night I wrote an email stating my frustration and anger at the way this was being handled and that I was not a happy camper and that I was seriously considering calling my attorney first thing in the morning. Later that evening I received a reply from Kerri Brown asking me to hold up and wait a little till she talked to someone in the morning and she would call me first thing Monday morning. So I waited, and waited and waited but know calls came. In the meantime I started researching the cost of a tow dolly and found that the cost ran around $2000.00 with taxes. Monday afternoon I droveto the dealership and spoke to them and told them what a tow dolly would cost. I was once again told someone would get back to me, once again no one did. Tuesday morning I received a phone call and was offerd to exchange the car for a 5 speed vehicle they had. I told them I liked the Altima Hybrid and did not want to exchange for the 5 speed. Once again I was told someone would get back to me, needless to say no one did. On Wednesday I presented an offer to the to try and settle this amicably and the offer was as follows: cost of a tow dolly--$2000.00, minus the $550.00 they already gave me, also minus $550.00 which I could put towards it, leaving a balance needed of $900.00. I asked if they would pay the difference to settle this. I was told by Charley Sherbanee that he did not think that they would but would check with Sammy when He got out of a meeting, and then get back to me. At this time and date they still have not gotten back to me. It is because of their neglagence, lying and misleading me just to make a sale that has put me in a very bad spot. Now I have a vehicle which cannot be towed when I travel which now means If i want transportation at my travel destinations I will have to rent a vehicle which puts me in an extreme financial Hardship. People please be weary when dealing with this dealership. They will tell you whatever you want to hear to get the sale.
