North American Movers fraud,misleading and deceptive practices, and hold furniture hostage,theft,breach of contract,unfair practices Woodland Hills California
these moving rogues should be prosecuted and jailed for the crimes that they commit on innocent families.
I was schedulesd to move the last week of Oct 2008. I thought this was the real North American Movers. I did not realize that they were another company all together. when i initially spokr to there point of contact Dana she never stated that they were not the same company. i told her I was really lucky to get with a reputable company for this rate. She assured me that their reputation was impecable and that they were the lowest because they do so many shipments. Of course moving a family from san Diego to GA. the object is to do it and try to save at the same time. She called and emailed me numerous time saying she needed my credit card and i refused and stated that i will pay them by a cashiers check only. i felt that since she had assured me via email and phone that the rate was not going to change this would be the best way for me.
I sent several emails asking her to contact me if any changes in price were going to be taking place and this was the best price and it was not going to change.the total cost was $7635.00 this was suppose to be the total. when they came that morning of the move 8 am we were excited and ready so i looked out and saw that the truck was a ryder rental and a bekins container i figured maybe they are contracted with them. On top of that the truck 3/4 empty and they new we were moving a complete house of furniture. 5bdrms approx.3500 sqft. at this time i was assured they can get all of it on the truck and this cost would also include the storage unit .
They came in with 6 workers that could not speak any english except the african american. and one of the hispanics.
they came in and brought boxes and immediatly started rapping furniture and bringing in boxes. even though we had signed the contract we never signed to get additional materials so we thought this was apart of the service. we found out later this was there way of inflating the bill without our consent.
Even there billing slip is designed for deception. Since you have signed the bill already upon initation they just add the materials in the section you did not sign and it appears that you did sign for it.this is apart of the scam.
after the movers have loaded all they can on the truck they ask me for a ride. I asked a ride to where? they siad we need to get a uhaul to finish getting your items and now it is 7pm. i refused and demanded to speak to the manager of the business. he was rude and a complete a*****e.He stated that he would be sending another truck from woodland Hills i asked at that point why is your company coming from Woodland Hills 100 miles away instead of san diego. i was told that they only had the office in woodland Hills and that is when i found out that they were not the reputable North American i was looking to do business with. this again is apart of their scam to use another companies name to delibratly decieve the most knowledgeable consumer into believing they are indeed with a quality moving company who has been around a long time.
while speaking to this jerk on the phone he was threating me to keep my furniture. i told him this was ridiculous and that he was not going to do that he stated that he had the furniture on the truck and his guys had been instructed not to take it off. We had several phone calls at this point to the point that his workers had fallen asleep in the front yard from exhaustion and it was midnight at this point. at about 1:30 am i was exhausted and my wife and kids upset that i Had no choice but to agree to a $13,600 with this company. he started at 23k and he is giveng me a break at 13k.
yet again apart of the con game from the con man. they have the good guy bad guy scam going during the gotiating of the price

FURNITURE AND FOOD, STOLEN, REFUSED TO PAY HIRED HELP!!!!

the furmniture arrived three weeks later. with numerous phone calls to the comapny and to the manager. When the furniture arrived i was told by the movers that there was another problem. North American had apparantly hired local help in georgia and was trying to manipulate the movers to move my furniture off the truck for less than was promised. the movers that were hired help at that point decided to not unload. i got back on the phone wiht the manager of North American again and he stated that he would have the driver ( good guy) to go and get men form day labor. i eas furious. In order to get the guys working and moving my furniture in I had to pay the movers out of my pocket another $500.00. The cost of this move was ridiculous with the service that came form this company. we had to buy winter clothes, linen, food,chairs t.v. all because they were late with the delivery. i found out that the compnaies address that they are using on Ventura Bld. is not the real address as to the location of the fuurniture. they have a FFFFFFFFF rating through the BBB. when going through our belonnging a lot of things were broken scratched dented or simply missing. all of our panttry food was missing with numerous seasonings. we got a mattress form anothe family that was not ours . the truck was jammed so tight that we had to wait thirty minutes to figure out how to get one box out and start the unloading. We are missing numerous boxes of clothing dog Kennel, Glass tops for our tables. i have requested a claim form and to this day they have not responded. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER WAY TO MOVE TRUST YOUR GUT AND DONT USE THIS COMPANY. PLEASE TELL EVERYONE THAT THIS COMPANY IS THE BIGGEST RIPOFF IN THE INDUSTRY.
