Ok, so admittedly I haven't worked for NV Innovations, but I went in for the interview and shadowed one of their guys for a day. For prospective interviewees, I want to offer a heads up.

They're an offshoot of CYDCOR, which already has a long rap-sheet on this and other sites for shady practices and the like. You can read about the parent company CYDCOR in the several more detailed complaint lists already written. I just wanted to give an overview of what to expect from NV Innovations in Elmsford/White Plains.

Personally, I knew from the moment I walked in for the first interview that it wasn't going to pan out to anything legit. I could hear the receptionist's music--and the receptionist singing along loudly--before the elevator doors even opened. Not only was the music uncomfortably loud, it was also uncomfortably inappropriate for a work environment (think unedited bump and grind sex/club music while you're filling out your interview application).

The first interview was hastily done with no room to ask the questions I had prepared. I was told to come back for the second interview and to ask my questions then. So I went along with it. By then I was pretty sure it was an offshoot of one of these shady marketing companies, and my investigative side wanted to find out which one.

I agreed to the second interview, which the manager, Mary Ellen, explained would be a full day of shadowing one of their sales reps. I was told to plan on a 7 hour day and to wear comfortable shoes.

I arrived a little before noon the following day and was greeted by more inappropriate rap blaring across the entire floor of the building. I was then kept waiting for nearly 45 minutes while the manager and sales team conducted a meeting in the next room, which involved a lot of yelling and clapping.

I was finally paired with a sales rep, whose job it was to cover a neighborhood going door-to-door to "follow up" with existing customers of a certain big-name company. At one point we were questioned by police for solicitation.

At lunch, I learned that, in fact, they were connected to Cydcor, that compensation is 100% commission based and that they offer no benefits. I was given the whole too-good-to-be-true nonsense, that I can make a grand a week with their sales training, that I can move up to manager and have my own company within two years, and on it went.

In fairness, the guy I shadowed was personable and professional, perpetually optimistic in light of the fact that he only secured one deal in the entire day. Of note though, was the fact that he felt compelled to lie when a customer directly asked if he was working on comission. (He said no, that he was just there on behalf of the company to help out the customers...total lie...he works solely on commission).

By 5pm we were wandering around in the dark in a shady neighborhood, and I had no good way of getting back to their headquarters to go home, which I desperately wanted to do at that point.

My seven hour day stretched on to a nine-hour day, on top of which I was given a "quiz" to talk about the sales and work strategies I had learned throughout the day, several of which I recognized from their recruitment strategies. (ie. instill a sense of urgency in the customer...or applicant...I was told that I had to get in to interview by the end of the week because they were closing up their hiring period...it was a lie, as they're always recruiting, and I heard the receptionist scheduling interviews for the following week).

My favorite of their work ethic rules, though: be on time. You will recall that they were half an hour late meeting me for the second interview.

I wound up cutting the final session short (at 8:30 pm...a full hour and a half later than was expected).

In short, while I know very little about what it is like to actually work for them, I do know that they: 1. are extraordinarily unprofessional, 2. are very comfortable spinning/stretching the truth, 3. are affiliated with CYDCOR, 4. Promise the moon while offering no real benefits to and investing no real resources in new hires.

In short, if you're looking for a respectable job, steer clear of NV Innovations. They really seem to be taking advantage of new college graduates who think they can't do better. Trust me, you can.

OMG- the story this person just wrote above is EXACLTY how the interview process goes....When I first worked at the Cydcor "marketing place" one of the managers tried to tell me that NONE of these companies are related at all....if that was the case THAN HOW COME THEY ALL RUN THINGS EXACLTY THE SAME....everything is the same down the the little details... for example...the loud receptionist music and the loud backrooms or ATMOSPHERE rooms....I know for a fact they play loud music and are loud in the backrooms so the victim interviewers will "think its a fun place to work"....PALEEESE. Its unprofessional and its a joke- anyone who walks in the fron t door gets offered the job b/c the turnover is so huge, its door to door sales and overall your pretty much lying to people all day. Just a warning to anyone out there- if you see fancy ads on ((links redacted)))...claiming to have many entry level positions and blah blah blah.....RUN- RUN as fast as you can!!!!
