Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Purchased home three years ago and have been fighting them ever since. Right off the bat, the cabinets and shingles were not what we ordered. This matter was taken care of to our satisfaction after months of bickering. Home set unlevel while we lived it. I actually felt sick when I was in it. The walls split apart, windows cracked from the stress. Home was finally releveled and everything inside shifted. Have not been back.

Now roof is literally popping off the house. Cabinets are pulling away from the walls. There are numerous problems with the home; this page is not big enough to list everything. I have read several of these reports and our situation is similar in regard to payment, interest, home owners insurance, foreclosure, etc.

Have spoken to several attorneys and am now searching for one to help us through the process of filing our claim since they have filed bankruptcy (no wonder - you can't stay in business if you don't do good business). A contractor has recently inspected our home (at our expense) and says it will never be right as footers are not even properly laid.

The roof needs replaced; the floors need replaced; the siding needs replaced. The siding is awful and mold is growing on the outside of the house. The side where there are no trees; only sunshine. My husband and I are both allergic to penicillin and have been sick. House is still off in the center and unlevel. It is literally splitting apart around us. Repairs are going to cost more than the home!!!

Thanks God we have all the pictures we have - from the day the ground was broken up till now. I am from the Meigs County, Ohio area and work in Athens, Ohio. We need an attorney who is reasonably close to help us with our claim. Bankruptcy court is being held in Delaware (Wilmington). Anyone with information regarding an attorney who can help us would be greatly appreciated.

Our papers need to be in by the 27th of March. I have fought for three years and will continue to do so. This is one fight I will not give up. These people took our dreams of our first new home and shattered them. They need to be stopped. They promise you the moon when you sign the papers and deliver nothing after; except a house that is not fit for a dog to live in!!!

My husband and I purchased a home from Oakwood in 2001 and 2003 we have a 3x4 foot hole in our living room ceiling because the shingles were put on wrong. Oakwood promised and promised they would fix the problem. The cabinets were covered with a vinel covering which we were not told. We found out when we moved in and started cooking, then the vinel started shrinking. It looks horrible. The subflooring was put on with nails that are now and has been comming through the lanolium. The trim looks bad because colored nails were not used, you can see where the heads were covered with putty because it has discolored. This house has been my worst nightmare. The home owners protection plan you can purchase with when you buy the house is as worthless as Oakwood Homes. I feel Clayton Homes should take some responsibilities, they knew the problems Oakwood had!
