My driver was delivering to a residential neighborhood in the Chicago area and became stuck in the mud and ice at the edge of the road. He simply needed to be pulled ahead 5 feet and he could continue. Police called a tow company at 7pm. At 2am Ohare Towing shows up with 2 wreckers and a pickup. One wrecker pulls the driver 5 feet and unhooks. The driver backs, under his own power, out of the neighborhood. At 330am, the driver is presented a bill for $1900. He refuses to pay this ridiculous price and follows the tow trucks to their yard, leaves his trailer as collateral and plans to speak with the manager/owner in the morning. In the morning he arrives and is presented a bill for $3094.20. The times on the bill were overstated severely(1230am to 630am), all three trucks were charged for even though one was called for and used and he was charged for 4 laborers to "spot" him as he backed out(under his own power) even though the one tow truck driver could have easily handled it. After numerous attempts to reach a manager or owner or someone with reason that could look at the bill and make adjustments so it reflected the services provided, we had to pay the bill so we could get the trailer back. There were other customers goods on the trailer. We were never able to get past the receptionist who kept stating, "it looks reasonable to me".Ohare towing service is a ripoff. It would have been cheaper to call a tow company from St. Louis and pay the mileage charge for 295 miles to Chicago.
