Decide to try Packet 8 because I've had good success with other VOIP services. They took two months to port my number first off, so I was paying both Packet 8 & Comcast for phone service. Then once I tried to hook up the Packet 8 router/adapter it did not work. I had to do 3 tech calls and several hours later to get the adapter to work. Just to let you know I'm fairly computer/tech knowledgable. If I was smart I would have cancelled in the first 30 days. After the phone was findly set up the real nightmare started. Constant dropped calls and the service would take up to a minute to actually contect and dial a number and then over half the time we would get a busy signal. We couldn't use a fax machine with the service because of the call delay would time out the fax machine. The actual service has bad signal quality with breaking up and echos. We couldn't walk around with the phone due to the call would be dropped. After 3 months of bad & sometimes non-working phone service I have had enough. I have tried to work with their unskilled Tech Department and they have NO solutions and they want to play the Blame Game saying it is Comcast's fault not their. We have the highest internet speed available through Comcast and have had both Comcast digital & Vonage VIOP services and they both worked just fine. I checked with the FCC and found out that VOIP services are basicly unregulated so they have no rules and can get away with just about anything. I'm filing with report to hopefully save someone who is thinking about signing up with Packet 8, the nightmare of bad phone service. If you think you are going to save money, think again. One last thing, on top of the bad service I also found out that they have a 30 day advance termination clause along with a $59,99 early cancellation fee. It's on their web site, almost hidden, towards the bottom of their long Terms & Service page. Buyer Beware, make sure if there are any kinks with this phone service that you cancel within the first 30 days are you are locked in for 12 months of bad service unless you want to pay a fee. I'm paying the 30 days terminatin & $59.99 cancellation fee just to get rid of this awful service.
