On or about 12/20/06, puppy had been at shop since approx 9am morning. At approx 6pm rec'd call that my puppy, Langston Hughes (LH) was too young to be groomed. I informed them he had been groomed before (he was six months old!). Informed that I would be there to pick up LH.

No one in front of shop when I arrived. Entering back of shop witnessed Holly-owner w/one hand around LH's neck shaking him and yelling in his face in an aggressive and angry voice. LH is a PekeTzu (half Pekingese & half Shih Tzu) and weighed all of 8 pounds! There was a choker leash around his nick that was attached to the table he was standing on.

As I snatched my dog from her she stated that he had bit her assistant. Assistant came out to front of store where I had gone. When I had calmed down a little, I asked her how much I owed. She informed me that there would be no charge since LH was so difficult and she mumbled some other, half-hearted excuses. She displayed a hand which had no bite mark though it did look like it had been in water for a prolong period of time. I said nothing else during this exchange.

Upon closer examination of LH at home, there were five nicks that had drawn blood, testicles were bruised, and he was badly shaved in spots.

It was obvious that owner and staff were over worked and stressed from a long day. Even if dog had bit assistant, there was no need to choke, bruise, and other wise physically/verbally abuse him especially knowing that I was on my way to pick him up.

I will never leave my dogs with a groomer again. I'm sure they are not all like these people; I just don't want to take a chance.

all I have to say is everything that is above is true I have seen on numerous times the owner get angry with the dogs mostly smaller ones and then tries to say something about this is how Ceasar Milan does it it's ok. the owner is CRAZY many split personalities yells at other employees saying are you F-ing stupid in front of other customers. Accusing employees not doing there job even though the dogs have been bathed, dried and ready to be groomed when infact she is the one that is late there for making customers have to wait and wonder why there dog is not done being groomed. She feels that is better in her eyes to put the blame on employees so the client wont be mad at her when everyone plus the client really knows it's her. she needs to shut down and take a long vacation in a psych ward, just ask her family and I feel sorry for the dogs that still go there. I have told a few people that use to go there thank god for them running into me at stores I told u about karma hahahaha

I worked at Pampered Pets Day Spa, I saw many of things that were not right and experienced the owner in many lies. I thought I could help her. I would go to work on Monday Morning and find the boarded animals in stainless steel cages with no food or water or even a blanket or bed. I confronted the owner and she told me that they would just make a mess. I told her that was wrong and I started to come in on Sundays to make sure that they were "Pampered". I knew the owner for a long time before and I thought I could help her change back to the person I once knew, however she has a substance abuse problem that seemed to be getting worse. Then the straw that broke the camels back as per say was when she was in a hurry to get all of the dogs groomed so we could go to a play. That day she choked 2 dogs, one I yelled for her to quit then she banged his head up against the wall, then the next one tried to bite her and she choked it until it was turning blue in the mouth. I yelled for her to quit again and yelled that she was hurting him she yelled that she was not!! The next day I quit, I told her husband everything, I do not know why he continues to allow her to have this problem, but enough is enough. When a friend of mine sent me this link it was a sign that I must speak up. I will send it to as many people as I can. This has to stop!!! I am a Groomer and my dogs love me and I do not abuse them.

Many incidents such as this one with LH occur on a regular basis at Pampered Pets Day Spa. I do not reccomend that anyone take their dogs to this facility because it is not a safe or healthy environment. When your pet comes home and is acting "funny" after it's visit to being "pampered" please do not ignore it and take it as a sign. If all the sudden your pet starts acting scarred, like it doesn't want to go inside of a grooming shop that it used to be fine going to...please take that as a sign and find a groomer that your pet is happy with. Not all groomers are like this....and you will meet a groomer where you and your pet are very happy with. So to LH and Vanessa, please don't let this experience cause you to be fearful of having your pet pampered. I'm sorry that LH was one of the many pets that have experienced this same inhumanity. However I'm glad that you actually saw this for your own eyes, and stepped forward to talk about your horrible experience. Hopefully many other people will come forward and together we will be able to weed out the groomers that should not be allowed near an animal. As a groomer patience and love is what is needed to allow the pet to be comfortable and willing to cooperate while being groomed. There's no need for violent behavior, and if one cannot control their actions and allow themselves to get to the point of becoming abusive to an animal, then obviously they chose the wrong profession.
