Complaint Review: Papa John's Pizza - Commerce Georgia

I have worked for the Papa John's corporation for years, although not at this location, and I have experience at many other pizza restaurants as well. Get your facts straight. There are different food handling rules for pizza. They do not require gloves on the makeline because the toppings are pre-cooked. It is required that hands are washed and sanitized before making pizzas, which I notice you do not claim that they are neglecting. As to using cheese from catch trays, those trays are designed to catch the cheese to put back and reuse. That is the purpose of "catch trays". I seriously doubt that the cheese in the trays at your store sits in the (refrigerated makeline) trays for more than a little while, not hours. Whether the individuals at your store are drug users does not affect sanitation, if they are washing their hands. As to whether there are drug users at any given pizza restaurant, come on. Pizza workers work for minimum wage, and in the case of managers, grueling hours, and they are in an industry known to appeal to slackers, drug users or not, in general. Any industry has drug users, and you are not very knowledgeable if you think that there are lots of restaurants that have completely clean employees. I have worked at stores where no one does it, and I have worked at stores where most of them do it. Either way, this is not a Papa John's problem. I cannot attest to the problems in this Commerce, Ga, location, but I can say that what you are saying doesn't sound right or intelligent.

I can only comment that I will never eat a Papa Johns product ever again. When picking up an order an employee dropped a spatuala on the floor right in front of me, picked it up and began using it again. I asked him what he was doing and he said the "floors were clean". I summoned the manager and then the employee denied it fell on the floor. Would it have been so hard to walk over to the sink and wash it?

Seeing as how I have worked with the individual making up the lies, not at Papa Johns, but another company, I can tell you that this person is not a reliable source. Not to be so personal, but I really don't understand how she could be so 'sure' of the lackingness of the employess, owners, managers, etc. because of the simple fact that she was too caught up in her love life to care much about Papa Johns.This individual was only mad because she was terminated from the store, which is why she made up this stupid report(typical move, I know!). As a consumer of Papa John's Pizza, I can assure you that the food is always the best and the people who work there are NOT meth heads, crack heads, etc.

If they did do drug testing, they wouldn't have any employees. Just saying. You should have taken the manager job. You could have turned that place around.

First, please provide a link to the investigation regarding the investigation of this restaurant. Secondly, please take a class in food handling. This will help you distinguish when gloves or simply washed and sanitized hands are needed. Third, I worked at numerous Papa John's restaurants, both franchise and corporate for years. While I may have issues on how they pay and treat their employees, their standards regarding food quality is second to none. Papa John's standards regarding the expiration of their food always far exceeds the standards of the local health bureau. Papa John's does frequent corporate inspections of their restaurants and would shut down immediately a store with the infractions you claim and fire the store's management. Forth, the drug usage is a rising problem with the industry as a whole. These jobs are low-paying, high stress jobs that are not going to attract the higher levels of the employment spectrum. Couple that with a company that really doesn't treat or pay their employees all to well and i do believe it is a recipe for disaster. I wish they took as much pride in the standards regarding the product, with trying to attract and retain a higher quality of employee. I could go on in great detail of how they treat and nickle and dime their employees, it really is a shame, but i do think there is a nice example in a post below.

I live in California, and even here, Papa John's is the exact same way. A few years ago, my boyfriend worked there for a few months. I would often go there about an hour before he got off work, since I'd always get free food out of it. But after reading this report, I kinda wish I hadn't eaten it. Anyway, many employees would excuse themselves outside and smoke weed. One of the delivery drivers would disappear for hours when he was making a delivery, and eventually come back strung out with no excuse as to why he was gone so long. Customers would call the store wondering where their pizza was, but no one could get a hold of the driver on his cell. He was fired and practically re-hired the next day over and over again. Why they kept that 50-yr old junkie employed was beyond me. I would often witness the managers "borrowing" money from the register. And I don't even work there! They said they would pay it back by the next day but somehow I doubt that. After all, they are the one's in charge, so who's gonna tell on them? Last but not least, my boyfriend eventually quit when they refused to give him his paycheck until 2pm. The checks where there, in the safe below the register. But they couldn't be bothered to pay him. So he basically told them to **** off.
