We made a reservation for a mini-van rental from Priceline.com and found that Payless was significantly less than the other companies.  When we went to pick the car up at Orlando airport offered us an "upgrade" from a Dodge Caravan to a Toyota Sienna for an extra $225 for the week.

 Since we were paying over $1000 for the car rental already, we decided that we weren't interested.  The agent was giving us the "hard sell", saying that the Sienna had rear A/C and much more room for our bags.  We further declined.  The agent kept pushing us to take the upgrade since it was going to be very hot that week and we had 6 passengers, making it very uncomfortable.  Again, we declined, saying that we were already paying enough.  The agent reminded us that they were much less than the other car rental companies.  Again, we declined for the third time.






The agent then proceeded to offer us the "collision damage waiver"...extra insurance, which we declined because we were renting with an AMEX credit card which covers that. He then told us we had to pay a $250 deposit in case of an accident and that we would have to pay for loss of use...which Amex does not cover.  We then agreed to get the basic extra insurance, in which we find out later, we didn't need to get.





The agent then gave us the keys to the Toyota Sienna, anyway, since they didn't have any Caravans left, at our original price quoted, since he failed to get us to agree on the $225 upgrade.   Very unethical business practices.  Do not rent from this company.
