I have a new Dell wireless tower bought 08/15/12. I went to Canon web site to find out how to get my tower hooked up with my Canon printer.  The phone# I used was 1-888-885-1802. A lady from India answered (Varndana?) couldn't understand her. I asked her to talk slow so I could understand. I was  She took info from me and transferred me with a computer tech.

I spoke with a Indian man whose name was Lincoln (aka) and he asked for more info. I was told that this company was a stand alone, not affiliated with any other computer company.  I was transferred to another man about my problem, then his supervisor Roy, then Mario who asked me for permission to look at my computer. He told me that my registry had 50 critical errors  to remove and  also I needed 5 drivers to print to the Canon printer.

Then he took me to a Hitman Pro website where the prices showed the $99 for a one time fix or $169 for a years protection. The total was $190.36 and the icon on the desktop shows nothing to check for anything like Norton or AVG, etc.

He said it would clean files, drivers kept up, clean Up Check, and virus protection. I told them I couldn't make that decision and call back in 30 min. when my husband would be home. He said the protection  would be good until 08/30/13. I paid by Visa but they showed PayPal.  When they sent me the email to print out, it said 3 months with Antivirus instead of one year. My husband talked with the woman or man and we knew something wasn't right about this.

This is a new computer and should not have had 50 errors in the registry. It wasn't even bundled yet and couldn't use it. Someone, somewhere in India at PC Help Station knows that this is very wrong. I hope and pray they make this right. Satisfied with a one time fix. I request refund for the one time fix for anything over the $99+tax.

I do not know whether this complaint is right or wrong.

I work for SurfRight. Our product HitmanPro - mentioned in the article - is sold on our web site for 19.95 for an annual subscription. PC HelpStation uses our HitmanPro product to remove viruses and other malware from the computer. It is not intended to find any registry problems.

Therefore, the mentioning of HitmanPro used to falsely find registry errors is not correct.
