I enrolled in the tax preparation course back in the spring of 2005. I got my first 2 lessons in the mail. They were simple. I finished them within a couple of days. The course fee was around $600.

I turned in the first 2 lessons and received 3 and 4. I made only two payments to them and decided that this course is not worth the money. It was all stuff I learned in high school. I guess pcdi was not aware of that because they never received my high school transcript. Also I was going through some of my bills and came across the enrollment agreement. I never turned in the enrollment agreement within the 10 days they gave me to turn it in.

We are in the process of buying a home and we were told that we had to pay off some old collection accounts. They were mostly medical bills. One of them was for thomas edison high school. My wife had enrolled in that course and lost her job and could not pay the rest of it off. I took care of that for her today. It was only $117.00.

While talking to oxford collection agency (that is who pcdi goes through) I was told that I had a collection account for $598 from pcdi. Because of the fact that I never signed the enrollment agreement I feel that I should not owe them anything.

Their courses are crap. The tests could be completed without reading the textbooks. I would not recommend this school to anybody. What should i do about getting this removed from collection?

Test results Update

#2Consumer Suggestion

I was FINALLY contacted by PCDI and they adjusted the tests scores to where they should be. And might I add, they didn't get back to me UNTIL after I filed this report. Either way, I am just glad they did. All I can do is hope for the best on the next test and with the course in general. I have read a lot of the other reports on here...unfortunately not until after I enrolled. I am hoping to finish this course AND get a decent job afterwards. Until then, I will contiue to do my job as a consumer to make sure they hold up their end of the deal.

PCDI Faulty Online Exams

#3Consumer Comment

Mon, March 27, 2006

I recently enrolled with PCDI for their Medical Transcription course. I was really looking forward to earning a degree where I can work from home and still be here for my children. I also wanted to take some of the stress off of my husband who works way too much so I can stay home with our babies. I took my first test after studying VERY hard for it. I didn't use the book during the online exam until the end to double check my answers. I made sure each answer was correct before submitting my test. I was a little surprised that the test only had 20 questions considering all of the studying I had done. Anyway, I got my test score back immediatly. It gave me a score of 19 correct out of 20. I was a bit upset thinking that maybe I must have some how missed one. I tend to be a perfectionist and my husband insisted that I was over reacting and that the score was great. So, I was determined to try harder for the next test. I studied harder and took the next online test. When I got to the 5th question, there were some stange typing errors on the page. Not errors from the page loading, but typing errors. The errors went like this...integumentary system&apos1120p. This "&apos" was after a few of the words. I was worried about this but had to finish the test or my score would have gotten messed up. I triple checked my answers with the book before I submitted it even though I knew the material. I even had my husband double check my answers. He is a Paramedic/Supervisor who knows all of the body systems and organ functions. I had to be sure that all of my answers were right on. They were, I had no doubts. I submitted my answers and received a score of 18/20 this time. I was floored. I did not understand what went wrong. When you get the score back there is no detail to it. I wanted to know which questions they claimed I got wrong. I sent an email asking which questions were wrong and why there were errors on the page. I sent several more emails. No one would reply. I called, got put on hold, called again, got hung up on immediatly after I had finally gotten a hello. WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE UNWILLING TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS? Unfortunatly, I assumed that this college had a good reputation. It wasn't until I had these problems that I started to search harder for more info on PCDI and what real people had to say about them. Now I am afraid to take anymore tests because I am not sure how they are being handled. I am afraid that I will take another and I will receive an even lower score. After two tests, my overall score for the course has already dropped to a 92.5%. Someone please tell my what to do. One more quick question...I know that I signed the enrollment agreement and I knew all of the details. However, can I get a lawyer and get my money back since they aren't holding up their end of the bargain. They claimed that they would help me whenever I needed it and no one will. Just wondering how screwed I am? Thanks, Melissa
