I ordered a Garmin Street Pilot C320 GPS Navigator from PCRush.com. The GPS unit arrived in a timely manner. It did not work. I called PCRush.com and was told to fully charge the unit. I did. It still did not work. I called PCRush again to tell them it did not work. They told me to call Garmin for warranty repair.

I called Garmin. The customer service rep asked for the serial number on the unit. He then informed me that the unit I bought as new was actually reconditioned. I called PCRush.com to ask what I should do.

PCRush.com told me that they charge a 15% restocking fee for returned merchandise and I would have to pay for the return shipping. I told them that I refused to accept a 15% charge to restock a broken, reconditioned item.

I retuned the GPS on December 10, 2008. I did not send in the required return form. To access the form I would have had to click on a little box saying I agreed to the 15% restocking fee. I did not agree to this very unfair charge for the return of a broken product. I returned the unit with just a letter stating the problem with the GPS and my expectation for a full refund.

I did not hear from PCRush for almost a month. I knew the GPS had arrived since I shipped it UPS and could track it.

I disputed the charge on my credit card and contacted the Better Business Bureau. I am sure that selling a reconditioned item as "New" is illegal.

Today, January 9, 2009, I got an email from PCRush saying that my credit card had been credited the amount I paid for the GPS minus the 15%.

I will continue to attempt to get my 15% charge even though it is not a huge amount. I am sure that PCRush assumes that customers will be so happy to get any money refunded that they will forget about the 15% restocking fee.

Be forwarned. This company is dishonest. There are many glowing reviews online about PCRush.com. Read ALL reviews. Many are similar to the one I am posting. Most complaints seem to involve refurbished GPS units.

Meanwhile, I went to Target and bought a Garmin GPS for $179. The next day it went on sale for $119. I went back to Target with my sales slip and they instantly refunded the difference to my credit card. The GPS turned out to be much less expensive than the one I bought from PCRush.com and it works!
