I purchased a 20$ license plate frame for my wife for Xmas...she loved it so much and couldn't wait to have it on her new car.she took it out of the plastic wrapper and it sat on my table for a few days till it was somewhat warmer weather to put it on her car...as I installed the plate frame I noticed the two bolt tabs on the top of the frame were bent inward..i put the bolts in those two top holes first ..hand tight..in order for me to get the frame to sit flush with the plate I had to push it to meet the last two holes so I can bolt the two bottom bolts in.as I did so the top two bolt mounting holes snapped off of the frame...due to a manufacturers defect ..i figured the frame would straighten out with the top bolts holding it in place but it broke instead so now ill only have two holes to hold the frame on.so with that I put the frame aside till I had time to go back and exchange it for another.i went back to the store a month later and explained what had happened to the girl at the register ...she said she cant do anything ..so I asked for a manager please...i told the manager what had happened ..due to the defect in the bent mounting holes the two top ones snapped off while tryn to install it ...she said she cant do anything without a receipt or the packaging..i said I'm here doing the right thing by telling u what had happened instead of buying another one and just return the broken one a day later as a defect ..alls I want to do is exchange it she said she cant.i said well its simple just take the plastics off of this good one and use it for the defective one ...she said she cant to that ..so with that I told her I will never do business with them again and twisted the plate frame up and threw it and left the store saying I'm boycotting them and I will spread the word for others to do the same ..i have given pepboys thousands and thousands of dollars of business...over a 20$ plate frame just cost them who was a loyal customer ..ill never do business with them again...the female manager also stated the tabs didnt brake off someone cut them off...i have the broken off tabs and she still insist not being able to do a darn thing and didn't believe me ..this is what I get for telling the truth but I did and my kids that were with me were besides themselves..at least I taught my kids right and to do the right thing and it still pays to tell the truth..

All you have shown anyone is that when you dont get your way you throw a temper tantrum like a child. Believe it or not it is so common anymore that retail businesses have a code for it. PITA. Pain In The a*s. You had NO receipt. You had NO packaging with a UPC on it. YOU broke the liscence plate frame and wanted them to replace what YOU broke. Maybe if you had even ONE of the two items the store requested you would have been helped. But you did not and NOW Pepboys is some corporate monster because they did not give you your way. Exactly how self entitled and self absorbed are you really??

And sure you could have tried the purchase and return. But even that no longer works. YOU call it a "defect", but in your own post you state YOU forced the frame. Businesses no longer fall for that "oh its defective". The only defective here is YOU. You claim to have children yet act like a three year old when you dont get what you want. Yeah your teaching your kids its perfectly ok to act out in public. The better lesson you should be teaching them is TO TAKE RESPONSABILITY FOR YOUR MISTAKES. Which YOU evidently have a issue with. Maybe their mother can instruct them in that area.

Its posted in EVERY retail outlet somewhere. You need your ORIGINAL receipt, you need to return the item in LIKE NEW condition minus any defects. You did neither. There is NO RIPOFF HERE!! Its just the usual self entitled twit trying so desperatly to place the blame on ANYONE else so they dont have to pay for a new frame. This poster is attempting top blame a business when the business is THE INNOCENT PARTY!!!

Grow the hell you child! Just because you are "telling the truth" doesnt change the FACT that you broke the frame and showed your rump the moment you didnt get your way.

over a 20$ plate frame just cost them who was a loyal customer ..ill never do business with them again

- Really?  So please tell us that without not only the packaging but any sort of proof of purchase you can prove that you are such a loyal customer and bought the license plate frame from them for a Christmas Present.  You could have spent 100K with them, but how about just proving you bought that license plate frame?  Without a receipt you can't.  So regardless of how much you have spent with them stores are no longer going to take your "word" for it.

As for you boycotting them...please tell us how that goes at your next store when you try to exchange a used item where you have no receipt or packaging.

at least I taught my kids right and to do the right thing and it still pays to tell the truth..

- Actually you want to know what you taught your kids.  That when you don't get your way, it is okay to just throw a tantrum like a toddler who doesn't get to eat their cookie.  Or do you really think it is okay for a grown adult to just twist the license plate frame and throw it in the store?

A better lesson you could have taught your kids is that when you buy something you need to keep the receipt and follow the return/exchange policy of the store.
