Pete Spaziano - Steel City Contracting - Mid Florida Contracting Pete Spaziano - Steel City Contracting Inc. aka Mid Florida Contracting Rip-off Lakeland Florida
I gave Pete a deposit of $500 for an interior paint of a home as well as a very small spackle job. I specified that I wanted the work done on the weekend. He agreed that he would have no problem completing the work on Saturday and Sunday.
The problem was that he sent over a husband/wife team that never worked for him before and they were NOT professional painters. Many aspects of the job were looking unprofessional and they were not even able to complete the living room. I had six rooms that needed painting and in a full day with two people, they could not even finish one room -- and the results were not looking good.
Also, the painter 'cleaned' his roller on my front stoop and left paint there. As well, paint was splatter on my Macintosh computer and the oak stair wells.
The spackle work was supposed to be completed on Saturday. It was not. And the person who was supposed to come on Sunday never showed up. I fired them at this point since nothing was being done as it was supposed to and more importantly, he did not use PROFESSIONALS to do the job. Instead I got a jack of all trades.
When I called Pete he did not answer his phone and his message box was full. This was most of Saturday and Sunday morning. Only after he got word that I fired the two workers did he call. And then he started calling me unbelievable and that I was a fool.
When I asked him for my deposit back I told him I would pay for materials (about $150) but I wanted the rest of my deposit back. He acted very unprofessionally and said to me "You want what???" Then he went on to say that I have two choices: either I let him complete the job or he will put a mechanics lien on my house (which I am trying to sell). So instead of a professional who makes sure everything goes right according to plan, I get a guy who insults the customer and threatens to put a lien on my house.
According to searches on MyFlorida.com, Peter Spaziano is NOT a licensed contractor in the state of Florida. You would have to verify this yourself however since there may be other alias names used. He also goes by "Mid Florida Contractors" and "Steel City Contractors Inc." (the name he used on my job).
Prior to posting this I notified him of my intentions and also told him that I knew of 60+ judgements against him and that if he would just refund my deposit LESS his expenses (not his time) I would just let it go. He told me to go **** myself.
I hope this reaches as many people as possible as this guy is a disgrace to his profession.

I also have a judgement againt Peter Spaziano and or Mid Florida Contracting in Osceola County Court.....I saw from the previous post he will have to eventually pay that back. Do we as victims have to do anything or what can we do to be put i guess on that list for him to eventually pay us back. Please let me know thanks [email protected]

Hey Peter -- enjoy your time in JAIL! "While. He pled guilty Friday in Circuit Court to a series of second and third-degree felonies, including grand theft, contracting without a license, and filing a false lien. He was sentenced to five years in Florida State Prison followed by 15 years probation. He is to pay full restitution to the victims as part of his probation. Pete's typical M.O. was to take a deposit of around $1,500 for a drywall he never did, or barely started. His unfinished sin-phonys." When you get out in 5 years I will expect my $500 back -- that or you can go back to jail again. See people -- if you are pro-active and file complaints, sometimes the bad guy does get what he deserves. Poor Pete plead GUILTY (I guess his options were very limited) to a series of second and third-degree felonies, including grand theft, contracting without a license, and filing a false lien. Now I can go get the lien removed from my home. Thanks for playing, Pete! You lose.

after his last rebutal he,don,is still throwing insults,,,don had thrown insults at me and my crew from the first time i meet him,,,i filed a lien on his property,,,,,so he says that iam uneducated,,,,well atleast i know how to do that,,,,,,,i have had complaints but i have done over three hundred jobs over the last three yrs sometimes you get guys like this that wont give you a chance that will file on rip offs,,,,,i like to know how i ripped this guy off,,,,,,all i know his i have plenty of costumers who keep hiring me and we work every day,i never take a vacation and havent in 8 yrs,,,,i have as many references to that effect,,,just ask,,,,by the way iam currently working with ripoffs to repair my reputation,,,,most of the people that have filed a report withripoffs has been satified.

I'll let his comments stand on their own merit -- and remember he has numerous complaints on RipOff Report (even from former sub contractors), tons of judgements against, bankruptcies, etc. And to think he can do all that without a proper grasp of basic grammar.

tghis man is really unfair,,,,we had worked all day saturday,,,,and we where going to work all day sunday,,,,but the middle of the job he told us not to finish,,,,i told him the job would look great when its done,,,,so please wait till its done to past judgement,,,i also told him thnat he would be happy when it is done,,,,but he would not allo wus to finish,,,,there was no reason for it,,,,than he file a complaint to ripoffs,,,,who is being ripped off or treated unfairly?
