The OP here is right on the money with their report!
Anyone out there considering purchasing a pet of ANY kind...should be aware that there are countless highly negative and graphic reports, including many presented (via undercover investigations) by the news media on puppy mills, cat mills, etc. And yes...there ARE indeed plenty of cat/kitten mills in operation as well!
NEVER obtain a pet from a pet store! It has been shown repeatedly time and again, these stores will lie right to your face about the origin of their animals and practically EVERY major pet store around DOES in fact, get their pets from a mill somewhere!
If you want to learn more about just what these mills are like...including viewing some very graphic pictures...just type in "puppy mills" in your search engine. The conditions at these places are horrific! Once a male and female "breeding" dog or cat have outlived their usefulness...they are usually just killed (not humanely either) and dumped out...like a piece of garbage! You can also contact the ASPCA for information as well.
When you buy from a pet store...you are only supporting the puppy or cat mill owner(s). Instead...if you are looking for a pet to provide a "forever home" for...try visiting your local animal shelter or humane society shelter! Thousands of wonderful pets end up having to be humanely euthanized every year because shelters are, unfortunately, overcrowded and there aren't enough caring people available to adopt them.
My own Maine Coon kitty, Munchkin,is a rescued cat who was found orphaned at 3 weeks of age in the Newport News Shipyard (Virginia) and came to live with me at 12 weeks of age. And...what an extraordinary friend she has turned out to be! (Her picture appears with this posting)
Be a real hero & make a difference! Open your heart(s) and home(s) to a pet who needs you! The unconditional love, loyalty, & companionship you'll receive back is immeasurable!

I have amassed a considerable amount of information on this company and it's practices (not that I'm about to list any of the specifics here). If you have filed a suit against Petland Georgetown or are anticipating filing a suit, please contact me. I have information that can help you with your case and I am also willing to act as a witness to their deplorable business practices.
