In February 2006 I purchased a 2001 Hyundai XG300 from the referenced dealer. The car was fine for a few months but towards the end of July I started having problems. From time to time the car just simply would not start. Then a few hours later it would start. I had the car towed to an authorized Hyundai dealer for repairs. They tried a few things but were never really able to determine the problem. I had to have it towed there three times for the exact same problem. As a last resport I contacted Philadelphia Autohaus to see if we could work out something. All of my communications were in writing so that I'd have a record. On Monday 9/11/06 I was contacted via telephone by a man named David who identified himself as the owner of the dealership. I throughly explained my issue to him and he said that I could bring the car in and he'd have his guy look at it or we could arrange a trade-in. I appreciated the phone call but would've felt better if I had that in writing. On 9/13/06 I wrote an email to them again asking if the offer was still good and if I could get a reply in writing. On 9/14/06 David called me again but this time he seemed to not want to help me. He asked me what I wanted him to do and I simply stated I wanted him to put into writing what we already discussed and agreed to. Further, he seemed to back pedal from our earlier conversation. He claimed his mechanic hurt his knee and he has no place to put the car if it is not running. He said that I cannot trade it in.

I was outraged since on Monday he said I could and now he is saying I cannot. What bothered me was his refusal to put anything in writing. Even if they are not going to accept a trade-in, for their own legal protection they should put that in writing. Otherwise we are dealing with a bunch of heresay.

The car is a piece of crap and I am not saying they knew upfront but they are very unwilling to help me out. This is bad business. I was happy when I bought the car and made a point of telling people about them. Had they helped in this case I would have sang their praises to all who would listen. Now I am making it my business to warn people about doing business with them.
