After a lot of research we bought a transmission from Phoenix Hardparts. It sounded like a such a great deal with all of the thorough testing that they do. Since they do so much testing, we felt we didn't really need to buy the extended warranty -- surely they would catch whatever was wrong.

However, we were very wrong! (Unfortunately, we didn't find this web-site until after we had bought the transmission.) The transmission didn't seem right from the very beginning, but within about 3 months it went out completely. It just stop shifting into second gear. We called Phoenix and they politely listened to our problems and then basically said, too bad, so sad. You didn't buy our extended warranty, so you can pay to have it removed and shipped back to us and we will send you another one and you can pay to have it re-installed. After reading this web-site, we realized that that was not a particularly good idea, since other customers had multiple bad transmissions which only costs them more money) so we had it re-built (again). The person who did the rebuild said that there was an O-ring put on that was the wrong size, so it couldn't build up enough pressure to shift and that 2nd gear was completely burned up.

WE WANT A REFUND OF ALL OF OUR MONEY. We turned in a bad transmission and received an equally bad tranmission in return. There is no upside to this scenario -- we have are just out a lot of time and money, and extremely frustrated. There is no way that if Phoenix does the testing on every transmission that it claims that it does, that they would not have caught this -- it was never right. This is a real rip-off when you as a customer have to pay all of the costs involved with installs/ uninstalls and shipping there and back for something that is THEIR fault. DON'T BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE -- save yourself alot of time, money, frustration and hassles, and just have it done in a local shop that will stand behind their work. It might seem like a great deal, but in the end it will cost you BIG TIME!

Did you get your situation with Phoenix Hard Parts resolved? I have not. Been trying to get service since 11-24-05. We are out so far $ 2069.00 and have no transmission at all.

After I submitted our ripoff report, I received a response back from Frank the owner of the company. We had a pleasant and constructive phone conversation. He is generously working with us on getting the getting the transmission shipped back to Phoenix, repaired and returned to us. We are in the process of doing that now. Frank has a deep commitment to the customer that he sells his part to wants to keep the good reputation that he and his company has earned. I see nothing but smooth sailing ahead and look forward to many years of service from this transmission. I'll send a further update when everything is completed as anticipated.
