Pioneer Services, the military banking division of MidCountry Bank, is warning the public about an international lottery scam in which it's corporate name and logo is being used illegally. Several individuals have recently contacted the company regarding a letter notifying them that they have won a $125,000.00 lottery prize. The hoax letter, which uses a Pioneer Services logo, includes an official looking check for a nominal amount of money, and directs the individual to contact Pioneer Financial Services at an international phone number and address where they can claim their prize money after paying taxes and an administrative fee on their winnings. Pioneer Services has absolutely no connection with this matter and is actively investigating this hoax. The company has contacted the proper authorities and the BBB regarding this issue and is encouraging anyone that has received a similar notice to contact their local authorities as well.
