Hiring Manager:Suzanne Burgasen

New Manager:Began 1/24/08: John Lacey

Area Manager: Mike Garland

Previous to termination I was told to cover my tattoos, which i did the next day,to ask permission to take ciggarette breaks...which from then on i did.

Also previous to my termination i over heard John Lacey speaking with a fellow mannager about terminating all of the present employees and hiring a whole new staff.

I also filled for health insurance. The insurance company had been taking money out of my checks but i had yet to recieve my card in the mail and was fired before i could use it do to the lack of card in my possession.

1/27/08

Saturday Night shift.

I was on the floor with one other server and at the time had anywhere between 5-8 tables when i noticed that one of my tables had walked out on their bill.

While they were eating i noticed that up against the wall were 4 shakers and under them was laying 30$ . apon them leaving i also noticed that the female was standing in line to pay the bill. They also left a 4 $ tip on the table.

At aprox. 6:30- 6:45 a third server was sent home.

Around 8 o'clock the Gm of my store (John Lacey) Sent a fellow manager (name unknown) to begin taking my tables. When i approached him asking him why he removed me from my tables he stated , without eye contact " I am your boss and i have the power to do that." I told him that if he was taking my tables away then i might as well leave. He responded with "If you leave your tables you will be fired." I walked away from the despute in the middle of the dining room in front of my customers to print out all checks and retreive boxes for their left overs .. i began to do my "before leaving check list" completed my remaining tables, cleaned up my section ...had a Manager (Ahmed) close my bank account where the tips for credit cards are banked into and left. I am by no means, in search for my job back i am only speaking up for my rights.

I feel that if he thought that i was incompitant then i sould have been approached and pulled aside to be talked with about my tables being stopped. Instead behind my back a fellow manager was told "she can not handle it" and was also told to take the tables along with a trainee being sat in my section while the fellow server continued to take tables.

I believe that i should be given back the money that i gave for health insurance due to the lack of being able to use it now that ive been terminated.

I contacted the area manager on my thoughts and feelings about what went on the night of my termination to only find that he was very uncompassionate telling me i would not be getting my job back. That there was nothing more that could be done ... and that he does not believe anything was done to me in the wrong way. That a table walking out is a reflection of poor service...(when they tipped me,finished their meal, and decieved me to think they were paying then inturn leaving without payment.) I am searching for answers and to tell someone my story of how i feel ive been mistreated in the work place i BY NO MEANS want my job back i think there is a fine line between being a boss and belittling your employees and wish there were more people standing up for themselves after they've been wronged.

I think that employees are needed in a workplace... and cocky, egotistical, management will not make a business soar.

To ensure that no other servers are subject to this, i advise that each table have to pay with the server instead of at a front counter with two ways of exiting the store, i also advise that no manager run a full resturant on a saturday night with 2 people while sending home the third person (who would have helped) at 6:30. then at eight replacing a GREAT server with a manager and trainee on the floor. I think that all managers sould speak directly to the employee that there is a potential problem with instead of talking about them behind their back or talked to as if they are below them in anyway. And it sould be part of their training that employees are not to be taken for granted ... they are 90% of why your company runs and sould not be demeaned and or belittled to boost ego.

Thank you for hearing my story.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Fri, February 29, 2008

I've met John a couple of times, I worked at the Pizza Hut in Woodbridge by Potomac Mills. John seems to think very highly of himself and has no respect for anyone working under him. He harrased my manager who had been working for Pizza Hut for almost 20 years and was trying to find a reason to fire him, I have no clue why. I only got to work at PH for 3.5 weeks, my last day there I was told that he was coming in to check up on things. After I left I got a call about 4 hrs later and my manager said he needed me to come back in to help him close up. When I got there I was told that Mr. Lacey said that day was that Pizza Hut's last day and he didn't give a reason why. Bad first job experience, I don't know if closing down a store without telling the employees is really a ripoff or illegal at all so I don't really think I should file a report, but I think it should be known that John Lacey is unprofessional since I was never notified of the place being shut down, the only reason the manager that was there that night asked me to come in is because were friends and I'm probably the only one that he could have asked to come in that late.
