I used to be a t-mobile cellphone customer and due to emergency issues I had to go back to my country in March 2006 and I produced enough documentary evidence to t-mobile for canceling my phone account without charge. They agreed and waived off the cancellation fee of $200.

Later I came back to US after a short period of time. After 1+ year I came to know from my credit report that some company called Plaza associates had kept a collection of $279.64. First I contacted Plaza but they gave me no info!!!

I had to guess and contact T-mobile due to some clue words in my credit report as Plaza never gave me right information. I came to know that T-mobile had wrongly charged me twice and they sent a note to Plaza to remove the collection. It was T-mobile's billing problem and has nothing to do with me.

Though I called Plaza couple of times, every time they would tell me that I owe nothing to them. But I still have a debt in my credit report and they say that they cannot take it out. If they were smart enough to place a "false" derogatory item in my report, why can't they remove it ?

I called them at least 10 times and faxed/emailed but I never got a single response back from them. They disown responsibility for their mundane act and have no sense of ownership for introducing false information in my credit file.

I don't know what kind of ethics or standards they have while playing with peoples' lives. I am planning to take legal action against them and hope to do it sooner.

I am not sure if it has something to do with ripoff report or a sheer coincidence, but the derogatory item in my credit report has been removed on the very next day of publishing my story in ripoffreport.com !!! So strange :) I am yet to get official note from any company involved in this, but I got an alert email about my score change that I had set up for changes in credit scores. Huh, after 5 months of constant follow up...Thank god!
