On 8/10/2007 I rented 2 P.O.D.S moving containers and paid an extra $89.90 for $10,000 worth of moving insurance.

I very carefully packed my moving containers with all of my belongings.

My PODS customer # was 10070586 and Incident# was 201968. Claim# is 2007-082929-38351130.

I moved from Hoffman Estates, IL. to Lake in the HIlls, IL and used PODS to do the move myself. I wrapped every item carefully and placed it into the POD. One of the items I own is an RCA 56" rear projection TV. It was wrapped in moving blanket and tied to the side of the moving container so it would not shift.

When I plugged my TV in it no longer worked. There is no external damage but something is rattling inside. It seems to me that the POD was dropped or handled in a rough way.

I have been fighting with PODS and XN Financial (their insurance company) and they sent me a denial letter. They said "if someone would have dropped your container, they would have reported it". I wasn't born yesterday!! Does anyone really believe that?!!

I have notarized statements from family and friends who helped me move and can attest that the tv worked before it was moved by PODS. The value of the TV is $1200 and I want XM Financial and PODS to pay!! Why else would I buy the insurance!!

Another posting on this site regarding PODS had a rebuttle by PODS which said that if they had insurance it would have been paid for. Obviously not! I'm looking for compensation for my broken TV in the amount of $1200.

At this point I would never recommend this awful company and their scam to charge you for insurance you cannot use!!

Thanks,

Aaron

April 3, 2009 Via Internet www.ripoffreport.com RE: Aaron K. of Lake in the Hills, IL 6/17/08 (10070586) On 8/27/07 Aaron K. contacted PODS Enterprises, Inc. and advised upon redelivery of the PODS brand container, his television was not working. On 8/29/07 a damage claim was filed to be reviewed under the terms and conditions of the Content Protection Option Agreement (accepted on 7/21/07). On 9/7/07 the adjuster sent notification in writing stating a full investigation was performed and the damage was caused by shifting/improper packing of the contents in the container, which is clearly defined in the Content Protection Option Agreement as well as the Rental Agreement as an exclusion, thus not covered. PODS Enterprises, Inc. values Aaron K. as a customer and although the investigation concluded that PODS Enterprises, Inc. was not negligent, on 8/28/08 the adjuster offered a settlement in the amount of $1,200.00 which was accepted by Aaron K. and payment was processed, thus resolving the matter at hand. Thank you [email protected] (888) 776-7637 ext. 6303 PODS Enterprises, Inc.

If you paid for the insurance.........PODS will have to pay on the damaged goods. Keep fighting.....they don't want to go small claims court. Write a letter to the CEO...Tom Ryan about your experience. Get a lawyer involved, let PODS know that you are ontacting the BBB and media about the situation. I worked in Management at the company and this situation happened a lot! That driver is correct, containers were dropped, shifted in transit. Don't give up........

i was a truck driver picking up and delivering p.o.d. containers from state to state, whse. to whse... p.o.d.s. whse. employees are inexperienced fork lift driver. all contanier are loaded and off loaded by fork lift. p.o.d. containers are stored and stacked on top of each other, 3 and four high, until delivery to the customer. the damage i have seen done to these containers by p.o.d.s. employees is incompresensible. i have wittenessed containers being dropped, slid on the ground inproperly. i have wittenessed containers competely broken open during loading and unloading. customers belongings spilled on the ground. i have seen customers called to come to the whse and repack their blongings into another p.o.d. because employees had damaged the container so badly it could not be shipped. one state the whse employees are well known in the trucking industry for this is in illinois. take your insurance papers, and this letter, run to small claims court. good luck.

Aaron, since you packed the items yourself, if there is any breakage, rattle, or otherwise through the normal operation of the move, then your claim is going to be denied. Now, the most telling thing here is that you wrapped the TV in a blanket and tied it to the side of the POD. That is NOT how you wrap a 56" rear projection TV. It will not stay immobile in the manner you packed it. You need the original or a similar box with the packing material inside of it to keep the items as immobile as possible, and then secure the box to the side of the POD. Even with the best possible effort to pack a TV in the manner you did, there is no way your TV would make it through the move and work at destination because of the jostling of items during a move. Whether you went with a POD, an ABF relocube, or a United SAM, if the company transporting the POD would have dropped it, the container would have exhibited a dent or 2, certainly enough for someone to notify another of the drop. You probably would have been better off just having one of the major moving companies doing the move; they would have had the necessary materials to properly pack the TV and would have been more responsible on the claim side if the TV didn't work.
