Portfolio Recovery Services Disheartening Interactions with Portfolio Recovery Services Norfolk Virginia
Be aware of this company! I was contacted only by phone (no written correspondence) by Portfolio Recovery Services about a month ago. When I called them back, they told me I owed a debt and needed to set-up payments using my checking account information. I was very cooperative in setting up payments due to the fact that my wife and I were in the process of applying for a home loan and this was the only unpaid debt showing up on the report. By stupidity, I gave them my account information and was promised a letter in the mail stating the settlement arrangement and the dates and times of the payment arrangements. Weeks later..still nothing in the mail. Our home is set to close next week and our lender asked for a letter from Portfolio to put in our file in order to proceed with the closing. I called them and requested that they fax my lender the information she needed. I was told by several different employees that they would have their boss send her a fax..hours later..no fax. I called back again the next day and was told they couldn't fax it because the account was "unworkable." I do not even know what that means. So by now this company has direct access to our account and is unwilling to send verification to our lender. I am livid that companies like this get away with these kinds of things. I am a hard-working middle class person trying to buy my first home and this company has taken my around the block for the past few days. I ended up talking to about 10 employees with absolutely no help whatsoever. They didn't mind taking my account information but they won't provide me with any written form stating this arrangement. I am wondering what my options are? I feel like there has to be some sort of consequence for companies that behave this way. Thanks for reading and good luck to all of you dealing with these crooks!

While i completely understand where you are coming from in your complaint..... yiu have the wrong company name listed in your complaint! There is a company by the name of Portfolio Recovery Associates located in the Norfolk, Virginia area that does collections and the thpe of work you are referring to.....my company does not! I am the owner of Portfolio Recovery Services...we are NOT in any way affiliated to Portfolio Recovey Associates and we do not do collections. We are located about 2 hours from the company your are referring to. PLEASE correct the name of the company you have filed your report on! Thanks!
