A deviously knoweldgeable scammer who poses as a Technician of National Service Provider (Telstra).

When asked for his employee detalis he provides an employee number and his first and second name. In my case, he claimed to be Sam Wilson. He has distinct Indian-national language accent and is quite amiable, makes small talk. He is also very adept at identifying VSP, ISP, other User-unique service codes required to gain access and to gain overall control of your MODEM as well as every other device you may have.

He utilises the MARKUPVALIDATION, TEAM VIEWER, OKLA SPEED TEST Apps to support his credibility. (I have written to these legitimate organisations and warned them of the scammer's use of their products).

During this lengthy phone conversation (30 minutes) with the scammer, dutifully following his instructions to communicate with the two servers that our computers communicated with in our local area network, trying to remediate the problem I didn't even know we had.. I asked my son to call Telstra and give them the employee number, I stated to scammer that I was requesting Telstra to confirm his identity. He stated he was comfortable with this. It took some 10 minutes to actually speak to a genuine Telstra representative, meanwhile this scammer had control over my Mac, literally.

At one point whilst on hold with Telstra, I noticed a flash message from Norton Security pop up, but the scammer, having control over my Mac closed it quickly before I could read it entirely. however my suspicions were confirmed at that point and I shut down my Mac (pulled out plug). My son ran downstairs and shut down our modem.

Meanwhile the Telstra representative said : as an organisation we never give our Last Name's out and all our Employee numbers have letters infront of them. She was wonderfully reassuring and commended our "swift action". It wasn't really swift as I had potentially compromised our home systems and I spent next hour changing passwords and identifyable data on bank accounts, email accounts etc.
