Gotta start with the positive, salesman Robert was great!  Then downhill.

For reasons they could not explain, they gave me a better deal than my offer... and then turned around a lied to get me to pay their documentary fee.  During the closing paperwork I bauked at paying the doc fee to which she immediately tried to distract me with "but we gave you a good deal". When that didn't work she told me that the doc fee was a gonvernment fee, when I questioned that she backed that up with "it is required by and paid directly to the Michigan Secreatary of state", and "she would know becasue she has been doing this for 20 years".

So I believing the lie I paid it but looking into it later it turns out that she outright lied.  The Michigan Secretarty of State told me that her statement wasnt true so I called the sales manager.  He said that all transactions are recorded and he will review the tape and get back with me because they guarantee customer satisfaction.

I have complained to the Better Business Bureau and the dealership also lied to them and said they refunded the doc fee when in fact, they only refunded a portion of the fee calling it a one time customer satifsfaction payment.  The Michigan Attorney General also investigated this dealership as has the Secretary of State/Department of State.  As it turns out, it isn't against the law to lie to customers. Chrysler was pretty interested in hearing about this dealerships less than ethical business tactics also.

What troubles me the most? Her statement that she has been doing this for 20 years!  How many other people have believed the lies.  Lying by the dealership to take your money may not be illegal, but morally and ethically it is not okay.

Of Course It's A PHONY FEE!

You were absolutely right! One of the CON-GAMES in the Sleazy American Car Business is the use of PHONY FEES! You should have walked out at that point. As for the BBB...the BBB is NOT part of ANY government or law enforcement body.

The BBB has ZERO POWER to do anything. Their ONLY purpose in life is to SELL their PHONY "accreditations" and their PHONY "ratings". They go to great lengths to try to DECEIVE the public into thinking they have some type of law enforcement powers when they do not!

The Sleazy American Car Business and the BBB-BS are both built on the basis of FRAUD and DECEPTION. Don't ever forget that!
