In general, all of the advertising I have heard for Priceline was that it was a great site to get great deals. Well, what a bunch of B/S!! My husband was planning a surprise romantic getaway, and used Priceline to try to get a good deal on a short trip. Pricline quoted him a price of 1100 for air, hotel, and car. He called me a minute later to let me in on the surprise. Unfortunately, I had found out that I had a mandatory class scheduled for our day of departure and told him that I couldn't make it. He called Priceline immediately and tried to cancel the trip. Well, forget about all of that. Priceline couldn't give a rat's butt about any customer service issues. The most amazing thing about this site is that they manage to stay in business. How is it that you can notify a business that you won't be using their services, over 2 weeks in advance, and they won't even let you get a credit for a date change for a more convenient date?

Then, as icing on the cake, I spent appx. 2 minutes on another web site and found a WAY BETTER package (non-stop flight, mid-size car, same hotel) for over $250 less than the so called "great deal" priceline offered to my husband.

So, don't you know, I argued with the "customer service rep" who then added insult to injury and claimed that I had to input the same crappy deal into the web site in order to dispute their "best price guarantee".

I asked her why anyone in their right mind would choose a worse deal, and she stated "that's what we chose for you".

This is totally buyer beware. I purchase thousands of dollars worth of travel every year, and I would warn anyone to not buy anything from this web site.

You will be able to to better somewhere else. I can't believe that this is legal. How can you purchase an intangible good, not be able to use it, give the seller reasonable notice of that inability to use it, and not even get a credit toward a future purchase? Lies and RIP-OFFS is all this company is all about. BEWARE!!!

While I feel for the situation that this has created for you, I know that he didn't do anything that he didn't consent to. I have used Priceline for the majority of my hotel stays. I have paid dirty cheap rates and the hotel quality was over and beyond what I expected. I have never had any problems. Even after Priceline attaches thier "fee," it is still dirt cheap. When you have the company do the "search" you are agreeing to the terms, non-refundable etc. These facts are not hidden they are in plain site and one would expect that you understand the terms before proceeding. Again, this is an unfortunate situation, but then a lesson well learned. At the bottom of most websites of this nature there is a link of "terms and conditions," you should always know what you are getting yourself into before you give out your credit card information. You can't claim ignorance on your part for lack of reading/understanding the terms that were agreed to by your husband. I'm not trying to create an dispute, but lets use some common sense!
