Actually, this is stated in the terms and conditions: "If you fail to check in to your hotel on the day of your reservation and do not alert the hotel, the remaining portion of your reservation will be canceled and you will not be entitled to a refund." But that doesn't mean that what happened to you is legal. As far as I see it, you reserved a room for three nights and paid for it. A term in the agreement stating that your purchase can be taken away if you don't use it contradicts the term that requires you to prepay. A crafty lawyer could subvert this policy with no problem. Just because they say you are not entitled to a refund doesn't mean that you actually aren't. What a contract says and what the law says are often two different things.
