I was warned but did not listen. I have also contacted the BBB. Please be careful. Read all of below:

Retired military and now Army DOD Civilian relocating from San Antonio, TX to Huntsville, AL Progressive JOB No: A8482565 NOTE: Consumer has copies of ALL quotes and email correspondence with business.

- I began obtaining quotes from various moving companies early November.

- Progressive Relocations November 2, 2012 quote for $4681did not win the competitive bid process undertaken by the consumer but "Conrad" continued to contact consumer via phone informing consumer that the quote had been a computer glitch and offering a new bid.

- November 28, 2012 a quote for $3598.90 was received, I immediately contacted "Conrad" and informed him via email that the quote was significantly less and that I was concerned.

- "Anthony" stated that it was a computer error and this would be the proper cost.

- November 30, 2012 while researching the company I found a "RipOff report" stating that the company often misrepresented the cost to their consumers just to gain the deposit please see: http://www.ripoffreport.com/progressive-relocati/moving-companies/red-hill-california-17f08.htm

- I immediately emailed "Conrad" with the link and stated I would be choosing another company.

- "Conrad" returned an email stating "alice, so you know that is a former employe that is trying to destroy our company. his name is joshua thomas he has been harising us for the past year we have pressed charges and contacted the authorites. He is trying to destroy our company the bbb and. dot speak for it self."

- Based on a review of the BBB, that email, and the price quote I began negotiating my relocation with "Anthony" because "Conrad" was on vacation December 3, 2012. Each email expressed the NEED to have a seamless move since I work all the way up to the Friday, December 14, 2012 departure and report the following Monday, December 17, 2012.

- Several emails were exchanged with "Anthony" to ensure my inventory was correct because the quote states "THIS IS A BINDING NOT TO EXCEED PRICE BASED ON THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY YOU THE CLIENT." I have documented email proof that I provided the exact inventory of the items I needed relocated.

- Final cost provided by "Anthony" after inventory correction was $3746.80 with a $900.00 downpayment - pick-up/pack-out December 10, 2012; delivery December 16,2012.

- December 10, 2012 Neighbors Moving and Storage "Sean" arrives and after a walk thru he informed me that the actual price would be $6000.00.

- Immediately "Anthony" of Progressive Relocation was contacted and I informed him I was only seeking the relocation for what was exactly on the inventory to be packed but the charge was almost a 50% mark-up.

- I requested my refund and "Anthony" said NO.

- Minutes later "Cliff" who stated he was the owner called and he admitted that I had been given a "bad quote" and the best he could do is $5250.00 for the move.

- I explained that I would not have chosen them had they delivered me the "correct quote" so could he please return my deposit.

- Owner "Cliff" stated NO.

- I have paid $900.00 that the company refuses to refund although it was an error on their part.

- I have been inconvenienced - both my husband and I have lost time at work and now my move to Huntsville, AL (Redstone Arsenal: Report date December 17, 2012) has been delayed.

- As a retired military veteran and DOD civilian employee (ARMY) this company has provided me with the worst moving experience that I have ever encountered in my 27 years of military relocations.

Please help protect other consumers from these poor business practices. I have no reason to make false claims. I am simply a consumer wronged and seeking justice.

#2REBUTTAL Individual responds

First off, I will not get in a bickering dispute with the owner / staff of any company. Second, any company that would post their clients confidential (address, phone number, etc) information online is questionable in the least.

I should have done better research on moving companies, as I would not have chosen Progressive Relocation Systems if I was better informed. It is my hope that my experience will help others with theirs. As a rule of thumb, and as I have learned, you should NEVER pay a mover a deposit for interstate moving. What is not seen in Daniels attachments is the $650 deposit I paid to Conrad who was not Progressive Relocations employee but rather an employee of a booking agency they contracted. I not only paid $3150 (total) to PRS but I also had to go through a chargeback hassle to recover my deposit. After having my chargeback claim denied I had to find the owner of the booking agency just to recover my own monies. Through this process, PRS sent one email stating that I deserved the deposit back but made no further effort to assist me.

Also, the original in-home legally binding not to exceed by 10% estimate is attached. The quoted amount was for $2598, and not the amount Daniel quoted.

I welcome any litigation or legal action the owners of the Progressive Relocation Systems wish to pursue. At every junction of my move I have been professional, courteous and understanding. The aforementioned fair settlement offer only occurred last week after my factual reports of their company, as well as its owners, were published online. Since the offer was made, I have not received a response as to when the check would be received despite my reply of agreeing to the terms of their settlement.

Also, the documents they attached were modified with a blue marker after the fact. The copies that I was provided, as well as copies of the household goods descriptive inventory sheet that contains written notes of their damage are attached.

Also attached is a picture of my cell phone call log this morning. The company registered my email address and my cell phone number with online moving companies and drug rehabilitation centers.

Finally, here are a few things I have learned about Daniel King:

His full name is Daniel Halili King (the King surname may be new).

He owns a company ABA Consultants Inc. but the papers from the State of Florida show that none of his business paperwork is current and that the businesses were a result of voluntary dissolution. One of his statuses for business filling was revoked. (According to sunbiz.org)

He most recently traveled to abroad and it was during this time that the situation described above played out. When I asked him during a phone call why it took 2 and a half months to return a phone call, he stated that he was on vacation. Again, I asked, "For 2 and a half months?" His response was, "It's what I do." As the owner of a company, and for a situation of this magnitude, wouldn't you be more readily available for your customer's concerns?

Most importantly, he has been reported for this kind of scam before. You can read about that here. You can also find additional information about the company, its owners / principal interests and several other moving company endeavors here. Also, I would be weary of the 5 star online reviews the company "received" as several of them have already been flagged by places like Yelp.com and moverreviews.com for failing to be factual.

Progressive Relocation respected affordable mover

The accusations made here are false and spurious to say the least. While we will concede that the move failed to meet the clients expectations the company and management did handle her move professionally and all her concerns were addressed. The facts pertaining to this move are as follows.

Ms. Deen received an estimate for $2488 ( see attached docs) from a reprensenative named Conrad. Move day came and the size of the move had been misjudged by Conrad who has since been terminated for his poor work performance. Mistakes are sometimes made but what is most important is how they are handled. With the intent of making the move work we gave Jessica a revised estimate of $3000 for 715 cubic feet / 5005 LBS. That comes to a rate of 60 cents per LBS from South Florida to california nearly 3000 miles including all packing, taxes and tolls. Anyone looking at moving rates cross country knows this is far from a rip off rate for a move of that distance. The client Jessica signed a revised estimate agreeing to these terms prior to loading ( see attached) The delivery took place within the estimated time frame. The items damaged are particle wood and seldom survive long distance moves let alone dissassembly and although items like this are not covered by insurance we still processed the client's claim and made a more than fair settlement offer to repair/replace the items. Unfortunately Jessica was not satisfied with the offer and threatened to "destroy are online reputation if we did not give her $900 back" .  Progressive Relocation stands by its repuation and has many satisfied clients that will testify to our integrity. We refuse to be bullied or extorted. Due to pending legal action regading other claims made by Jessica regarding ownership. We will simply say resources like the Better Business Bureau and www.safersys.org are good reference points to see the legitmate unbaised truth as to a movers capabilities, credentials and overall performance. Thank you for taking the time to read our side of the story.

Best Regards

While I do not know the person who wrote this, I can attest that several of his / her statements were factual. This company thrives on taking significant deposits for both over the phone and in home estimates. When moving day comes, they will show up, and they will attempt to increase your move $1000 more and refuse to acknowledge your deposit. I know because this happened to me.

When we finally settled on an amount that was greater than my legally binding in-home estimate, the movers damaged nearly all of my furniture upon delivery and ruined my brand new hardwood floors too!

I attempted to speak to the owner, Clifford Agnant (not Josh Socher), and it was, by far, the most miserable "conversation" of my life. Cliff needs to learn how to speak to customers, and let customers speak, if he ever hopes to run a successful business. Judging from his behavior with me and readily available past, I am left to suspect that he has zero intentions of ever carrying a business to a positive status. I mean, after discovering that Clifford was arrested less than 10 years ago for trafficking cocaine and spent 3 years in prison as a result, I cannot expect a company to be morally and ethically interested in anyone, much less its clients.

Proof of Clifford's arrest can be found here. As you can see, the stated residence is identical to the registered address of Progressive Relocation Systems.

For the full and complete story of my move / experience with Clifford Agnant and his company, Progressive Relocation Systems, please see my blog post here.

Warning Consumers Complaint filed with BBB

#5Author of original report

In an effort to stop the back and forth in this forum, I am posting this last statement to say CONSUMERS BEWARE. When I read the initial report, I too contacted them and trusted what Conrad told me about a bitter employee trying to destroy them. See http://www.ripoffreport.com/progressive-relocati/moving-companies/red-hill-california-17f08.htm

- Now it is me. The consumer is trying to ruin a random company. A retired Naval Officer and now Army Civilian who you has been scammed for $900.00 from Progressive but Allied Movers had to come help ensure my goods are safely delivered to Huntsville.  Very impressive!

- I applaud the fact that despite the fact that you have full knowledge of the situation you will attempt to stick to your guns but it is not over yet because as consumers it is our duty to protect each other. I think you were mistaken when you thought your company would arrive and put me in a position where I MUST accept the terms of your service. Bad decision!

- I have contacted the BBB Case #90182396. I have reached out to the Department of Defense legal team. I have my paperwork so I hope you have yours.

- If this cannot be resolved via arbitration, Progressive Relocation Systems may soon be engaged in a law suit for punitive damages and paying me far more than just my $900.00 refund.

Here is a photo to support your fact finding mission. Allied pickup December 13, 2012.

The real truth

#6REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thu, December 13, 2012

We strive to provide the highest level of service and the hundreds of reviews found online are a testament to our principles and integrity. However not everyone can be pleased or is even reasonable. While we made our best efforts to resolve the situation civily with Ms. Alice Goodson we feel either her intent was to manipulate us into a discount for her move from the very start by threating to defame us online or at the very least her expecations of what she thought her move would cost were unrealistic. The comment she made that Allied Movers did the job cheaper than $5250 seems suspect especially since she does not mention the actual price paid. Also Allied charges by the LBS and after they go weigh her goods at a truck stop and bill her I am sure she is in for an unpleasant suprise. Also if you simply google Allied Movers you will see the truth about just how professional they are. Also just to clarify why the deposit was forfeited in addition to the fuel, labor, loss of time and significant resources allocated to going to her move we also had brought in substantial packing materials into the clients home which she kept after locking the workers out the house and telling them to get off the property. Ms. Goodsons' account is riddled with falsehoods and this is simply a vindictive attempt to follow through on her attempt to as she sais " destroy the company " . We wish the client the best of luck but ask that the lies and attacks on our good name stop.

Further Proof of Misrepresentation

#7Author of original report

Wed, December 12, 2012

First, I would like to say thank you to Mr. Daniel King for making my case to the BBB even stronger. I will carefully address each element so that consumer knows that not only are the scammers, they have also just documented a mistruth in an open forum.

1. The client grossly underestimated and misrepresented what they had.

- A detailed list of exactly what I needed shipped was sent to the company Anthony December 3, 2012. [I have a copy of that email and Anthonys response.]

2.  The clients home was over 3000 square feet with a double garage and it was full. The contents were well over 14000 LBS or 2000 cubic feet.

- Mr. King my is approximately 2800 square feet and it is beautiful but wait I have sold the home and I am moving into an apartment that is 1,327 square feet so the bulk of my furnishings are being donated to Furniture for a Cause. All these items were marked and Sean was told that I would not be taking them. I could not possibly fit these items into my 1327 sqft apartment in Huntsville, AL. I explained that to Cliff and Anthony as well.

3. The owner talked with the client personally in an effort to resolve the situation and made  an offer far less than the rate on the estimate.

- Cliff did make me an offer to move me at $5250 and I did decline because as I stated, if your bid was correct in the first place I would not have chosen you. You would have continued to be non-competitive. Why because Allied Movers came in at a lower rate and they are one of the top companys in the U.S.

- In fact, Allied Movers is here right now (December 12, 2012) moving me at a lower cost than $5250 and the inventory will show that I did not require 14000 LBS and 2000 cubic feet.

- I plan to use this to push this through the government. All I requested was a refund since your team wrongfully provided me an estimate to earn my business but it appears that your company views the $900.00 as more important than your companys standing.

I am a very experienced consumer as a military veteran and I know that this was unjust. That is exactly why I save everything (including your response).

the true story

#9REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, December 12, 2012

First off there are two sides to every story and we would like to thank you for taking the time to read our side. The client received an estimate for 7000 LBS with a volume of 1000 cubic feet based on an inventory she submitted regarding what was to be moved. The client grossly underestimated and misrepresented what they had. Upon arrival at the site the foremen Sean noticed that where many items not listed on the inventory i.e. boxes, tvs, exercise equipment, bed ect ect and also many of the items that were described as very small were very much oversized.

Sean explaned this to the client however the client was adamant on only paying the estimate amount of $3598. When the foremen and management explained to the client that the estimate was for the quantity of 7000LBS or 1000 Cubic feet at the cost of $3598 and as the estimate stated ( which the client signed ) that if any additional services or volume over what is listed are added then the bill will be adjusted according to the rate per lbs or cubic foot.

The clients rate equated to about 50 cents per lbs. The clients home was over 3000 square feet with a double garage and it was full. The contents were well over 14000 LBS or 2000 cubic feet so the client was given a revised estimate prior to us touching her goods as per regulation. Most of the horror stories involving movers start with the movers loading the goods onto the truck and then giving an inflated cost. We did nothing of the sort. The estimate was severly off due to misinformation from the client and we tried our best to offer a price that was fair for what she had.

At the given rate of 50 cents per LBS X 14000 LBS we coud have legally loaded the good then weighed them and dropped a bill on the client for $7000 but we did not. The owner talked with the client personally in an effort to resolve the situation and made  an offer far less than the rate on the estimate. By offering a cost of $5000 ( which was the last offer ) the company offered a 30% discount off the estimate rate and the client choose to still decline the service. We are sorry the move didn't work out and tried our best to make it work.

We dispatched a truck and 4 men to the site over 100 miles out at considerable cost and at $5000 were simply trying to cover our cost. Attached is a picture of the clients home. It is a massive 6 bedroom house and it was fully furnished with appliances. The client declined a walk thru from us prior to booking adamantly stating that her move was no way over 7000 LBS Please contact us with any questions and we appreciate you considering us for your relocation.

Best Regards
