I am a disabled senior citizen. The landlord at promenade / essex totally abused me as a tenant. I consider what they did to me ELDER ABUSE . they raised my rent by 50 % to force me out right after I got out of the hospital.
They lied to me when I moved in by promising that the rent would not go up then they jacked up my rent by up to 50% in 1 year period and when I complained Tommie refused to accept my rent check and asked me to move out with 1 week notice to move even though it was before the expiration of my lease and I just came out of the hospital. As a senior citizen my income is fixed and it was a tremendous hardship to have a 50 % rent increase, moving cost and thousands of dollars to secure a new aoartment.
The entire time I was living there, they had constant construction which effected my health. The units leaked when it rained which caused toxic moldes. I was diagnosed with asthma which was caused by exposure to moldes and dust.
I believe that the leasing office staff is abusing the elderly and I feel they bullied me.
