what a piece of work these jokers are. i had my acct handled by a "debt management" co., as they were able to lower my int. rate with these loan sharks from 23.99 to 8 percent. my balance is nearly paid off, so to save myself the fees debt mgmt co charges, i paid more than 80 percent off through a zero percentage credit card i had recently acquired.

when i called p to have my payments reverted to the normal min. payment rate instead of the debt mgmt payment, as i am not working at the present time and balance was now under $400, i was told i was under a debt mgmt program and they couldn't change my records. i said no, i wasn't. i cancelled it a month ago. to no avail.

i contacted debt mgmt co. they claimed to have sent a letter to p stating that i was no longer on their program when i cancelled. they resent said notification. i waited a couple days and called again.

due to the fact that the FIRST letter mysteriously didn't arrive, and my statement had gone out, they were binding me to the debt mgmt minimum payment! i explained a letter was sent BEFORE the statement was mailed but it was not received AND i had that in writing. didn't matter. IF I COULD PAY THIS AMT. I WOULD HAVE STAYED WITH THE DEBT MGMT COMPANY!!! i was 2 mos. away from paying it off under that scenario.

i asked to speak to a manager, oh, this also occurred after being transferred to FIVE dif. people and the second to last telling me that i COULD switch my min. pymt. amount. i was told the manager wasn't available and if she was she would tell me the same thing. i said have her call me anyway. still waiting for that call.

to add insult to injury, i get a letter in the mail from these idiots telling me that i am no longer on a debt mgmt program (dated one day after they received the SECOND letter from debt mgmt co) and that i was responsible for the late fees and over limit fees. that was the point of their letter! WHAT JERKS! it is some random stock letter. my payments had ALWAYS been made on time and i was nearly paid off (and good riddence). just so ridiculous the way they treat their customers. changing over to washington mutual does not improve matters, except that they have a published 800 number, which p did not.

had i known a letter would be sent from my debt mgmt co, i would have followed up on it sooner to begin with. i was waiting to get my statement so i could contact them before proceeding further and when i encountered this nightmare. nonetheless, this is not a situation i created. it is one i am a VICTIM of and don't tell me the records couldn't be changed "after the statement was sent" because anything can be done if you want to do it. they simply do not.

ZERO is their rating for customer service. i suggest customers encountering these bad business practices, make your political leaders aware of them, as well as the attorney general's office. if they are allowed to continue in their current manner, these instances will persist and it is time to end them.
