Public Storage ripoff, supposedly "auctioned" off personal belongings Lansing Illinois
For around 3 years, my family has been using Public Storage to harbor are personal belongings while we went through dramatic situation. We really didn't have any problems with them up until this point.
Around May 25, I noticed I was unable to access my account online (I was paying for it via the internet). This was very important, because I needed to finish paying off the bill(it was about $100) Now keep in mind, when you're late paying a bill, they add about a $50 late fee. -OR- THEY WILL CONTACT YOU AND WARN YOU THAT YOU'RE LATE ON A FEE!
Anyways, I contacted customer support via email, but they didn't get in contact with me until the 10th of June! After going through a wild goose chase with the customer service rep on the telephone, she finally finds the name the unit was under(apparently it disappeared) and proceeds to contact the property were my family's unit is located. The girl on the phone says they "auctioned" all my stuff off on the 28th of MAY! No warning. Didn't contact me even though they did have the means to do so. All my family's personal belongs, family photos, tapes, bikes, etc, GONE. I asked the lady on the phone if I could get a list or something of the personal stuff that was sold, she barked "No sir, it all gone!" and seemed like she was close to hanging up on me! She knew she could of prevented it by contacting me earlier.
We are now in contact with a lawyer.
Word of warning: Don't go with public storage. It's not worth it. Customer Service was late and very rude, the property team didn't even bother to warn me that my personal possessions would be "auctioned" off.
