First and foremost, my heart goes out to all who have lost a pup due to any reason. My husband waited 15 years for the dog of his dreams, a pure breed siberian husky. On July 2, 2004, we took the long ride out to Puppy depot and found our dog, which did cost us in the 4 digit bracket. Our "Ashes" is now going on 9 months old and has been lucky enough to have a clean bill of health. However, I do agree with one complaint that has been mentioned. Two days after we purchased the dog, we took her to the vet for her free visit. I must say I did not like the way the vet examined my pup. He simply checked her heartbeat and said she needed at least $200 worth of shots. I was appalled by his lack of thoroughness and immediately began looking for another vet. As far as the vet they associate themselves with, I agree with each and every complaint regarding Puppy Depot. However, I have known a lot of people who bought dogs from pet stores, animal rescues and breeders all who have enjoyed the company and love they recieve from each dog. Before purchasing a dog, research must be done. A person must read on all the pros and cons to purchasing and obtaining a dog. I must have read all the books on siberian huskies, so when I entered the room to play with the dog I looked for certain signs. I am not defending nor going against puppy depot. In all honesty, it really does not matter where you purchase your puppy. One could be sick and one could not. Important things to remember when purchasing your pup is to do research and make sure he/her is checked out by your own vet. If something is offered for free, you can be sure your going to get what you pay for, ABSOLUTLY NOTHING.
